November 11 TV Schedule

This has already been an interesting week in college football with Rutgers upset of Louisville. While many people will surely jump on the Rutgers bandwagon now, it’s simply not going to happen. Even if Rutgers wins at West Virginia, which is highly unlikely, they won’t, and shouldn’t, make the National Title Game. Greg Schiano should win coach of the year. He’s done as much as any coach in the country, but Rutgers just doesn’t have the talent to be considered an elite team yet.

Saturday offers perhaps the most TV games of interest of any week of the season. While it only offers a few high profile match-ups, at least a dozen games have interesting storylines.

The big ones are Tennessee vs. Arkansas (huge SEC West implications) and Oregon vs. USC (critical Pac 10 game).

In the SEC, despite Georgia’s recent woes, the UGA/Auburn game is always a battle. Likewise for the Alabama/LSU game. But perhaps the most interesting: Spurrier returns to Gainesville as head coach of the Cocks for the first time.

In the ACC, the parity this year makes every game potentially exciting. Both the Pack and Clemson look to stop the bleeding. Tech looks to strengthen its hold on the Coastal with a win over UNC. Miami/Maryland and even more so FSU/Wake offer games where the perennial favorite is struggling this year, and the traditional easy win is playing like a favorite. Then there’s Duke looking to break the streak against BC – not likely, but after close losses to Wake, Bama, and Miami, who knows?

Nebraska/Texas A&M should also be a good game. With nothing to lose, Texas Tech will be airing it out against OU. In the Pac 10, you never know what’s going to happen. Cal/Arizona could surprise.

Finally, on 10:15, Boise State plays the toughest remaining opponent on its schedule, San Jose St. – shouldn’t really be much of a contest.

They are both on LF. Check your local listings. I am in Georgia, so naturally I am getting the Tech – unc game. I’ll listen on Pack Pass as long as it stays interesting.

First let me say I almost always agree with the LSU Tiger Fan’s football reasoning but regarding Rutgers, if they win out and the only unbeatens are OSU or Michigan and Rutgers you must give them that spot in the Fiesta. In fact I hope they win out. It is a great story and it may help blow up this bogus BCS system.

Do I think Rutgers, even if they win out, is one of the two best teams in the country? NO! But I don’t care who you are if you have a loss on your resume you have no leg to stand on carping about Rutgers shouldn’t be in the Fiesta.

They will have beaten Pitt, Louisville and WVA (on the road). And may I remind those of you who say who cares it’s the Big East and they aren’t in the same league as say the SEC, well many said the same last year about UGA vs. WVA in the Sugar Bowl and how did that work out? Do I think year in and year out the SEC is the best football conference? Yes I do and that’s why a playoff would help level out the disparity in the regular season
    conference schedules.

Also, I recall a team in 1983 that many said was not deserving to be in the NCAA BB tournament let alone the Final Four and we know how that worked out too! Thanks again Coach Lowe. So do not disparage Rutgers, if, and that’s the key operative here, if they were to go undefeated let them have their shot at the title. They may be this year’s version of the ’83 Pack. Until we have an honest playoff this is the system that we must endure.

If you have GamePlan and get one of the LF games on your local station, the other should be available on GamePlan.

^ i to hope they would give Rutgers the Championship game.

it is a hard to keep momentum up in a season of football… and if this team can do it and remain unbeaten when playing against the Ville, WV, and Pitt and there are no other unbeatens aside from MICHIGAN(yes… thats my prediction), then they should be there in the Championship Game. Thats how the sign of Champions… minimizing losses as much as possible. it shows solidity, discipline, talent, and heart…

of course the topic of confrence IS importanat. and if there is ANY other unbeaten team(top 25 level team) then Rutgers should not get the bid. the system needs to change… and if Rutgers winning the national championship is what is going to do it…. then lets do it.

I respect the opinion that Rutgers should be in the NTG if they are one of two BCS unbeatens. Its a rational and logical argument. However, I continue to believe that the national title is about who the best team is whether “best” is defined as at the end of the season or over the course of the season.

I would be very, very surprised if Rutgers could finish in the top half of the SEC this year – at least not in the top 5. Therefore, I don’t think they should be playing for the national title.

BCS needs a CHANGE… and not one that will last just a year.
