Once again BC at #23? I know somebody has got to be there but BC? Come on.
UF better watch out for UT. Got a feeling that may be where UF drops one.

Whats the reasoning for not having BC there? Who would you have there to replace them? BC has 2 solid victories over Clemson and BYU and is 4-1 total. BYU is 4-2 with a win over a then-ranked TCU team. And Clemson has up to this point shown itself to be a strong team, certainly one of the favorites to win the ACC title. Even with all the injuries. Keep in mind that BC won that game when Clemson wasn’t quite as banged up. Yet there are those who would say that Clemson handed them that game. But they didn’t. BC won that game because they deserved to. And they deserve the ranking.

PS – UF has already beaten UT, @ UT.

  4. class of 74 10/10/2006 at 3:13 PM #

    ^my error. You are correct.

  5. packpigskinfan23 10/10/2006 at 3:14 PM #

Craptacular… you fail to remember how horrible BC played against UCM… and they did lose to us. they dont deserve top 25… and havent all year.

  6. class of 74 10/10/2006 at 3:21 PM #

Like BC’s win over Clemson but they have not looked good otherwise. And TCU is prooving to be a fraud, they would probably be a .500 team in this years ACC.

  7. CaptainCraptacular 10/10/2006 at 3:22 PM #

They won the game against UCM. They are 4-1. They didn’t play *horrible* against us. They beat Clemson and BYU. With all due respect, they deserve the ranking.

  8. packbackr04 10/10/2006 at 3:32 PM #

my outlook is, the longer BC stays in the top 25 the better is it for our rpi

Tennessee did not look like a #5 team against Georgia this weekend. UGA gave the game away, UT did not win it. I agree with UGA’s rankings but UT is a bit high. They may be top 10 or top 15 material, but not top 5 IMHO.

  10. BoKnowsNCS71 10/10/2006 at 3:49 PM #

So who is going to win the BC-Va Tach game. That may drop one of those two out.

  11. schultz05 10/10/2006 at 4:01 PM #

tech above notre dame? and i almost took this poll seriously…

  12. Wulfpack 10/10/2006 at 4:20 PM #

Tennessee is a legit top-10 team, don’t know about top-5. If you watched the UGA game, I was damn impressed with what Fulmer has been able to do in a year. I’d love to see a Tennessee/WVU bonanza. I have no idea how GT is ranked ahead of Notre Dame. I do believe there was a head-to-head match-up earlier this year. BC will be exposed as the year goes on. They may be worthy of a top-25 today, but I think the Eagles are a very average team. I’d like to see Wake in there, but they shot themselves in the foot last week. Hopefully we crack in there next week!

with all due respect, Craptacular… I dont think BC does “deserve” a top 25 rank. The only team they beat that is of TRUE worth was Clemson… and that was a tough one. I have said it all along. I am a BYU fan. in fact, if there is a team aside from the Wolfpack I pull for it is the Cougars… but I still dont think another TOUGH win against them warrents a top 25 rank. BYU outplayed BC through out that game. Wulfpack says “BC will be exposed as the year goes on,” but I think they already have been. I think they were from week one, night one… their offense is probably the most questionable in the above list… and personally I wouldnt mind seeing SoCal being lower but that is a more humble opinion….

  14. CaptainCraptacular 10/10/2006 at 5:04 PM #

BC is one miracle away from being 5-0.

*The only team they beat that is of TRUE worth was Clemson…*

Ok, so put that to a comparison. How many other teams from 15-25 have beaten anyone of worth? If you choose to measure by that standard, then Boise State has beaten no-one of worth, Nebraska has beaten no-one of worth, Virginia Tech has beaten no-one of worth, and Rutgers has beaten no-one of worth. So what are these teams rankings based on? And what are the alternative teams at the #23-#25 spot besides BC? What have they done and who have they beaten? Is there anyone from 25-30 that deserves the spot more than BC? I personally don’t think so.

This is all just an academic debate anyway. It doesn’t really matter, but I just wanted to point out that if you are going to measure BC by some standard, then apply that standard equally to their immediate competition for spots 20-30 in the poll.

  15. packpigskinfan23 10/10/2006 at 5:50 PM #

^your right… but I think border line winning games against supposed “inferior” teams and a one L should lose out to winning games… even if the team is “inferior”… I have not watched games of all the teams on the list, but I have in fact seen BC play 4 games now… not one single game I have seen is worthy of a top 25 team.

and I think Rutgers has done quite well for itself… even if Carolina is their biggest win.

  16. packpigskinfan23 10/10/2006 at 5:52 PM #

and yes I realize that Clemson is not even supposedly “inferior” to BC… that was in refrence to the BYU and CMU games….

  17. class of 74 10/10/2006 at 6:01 PM #

The BC team I saw at CF was not a top 25 team. Yes they are only one play away from 5-0 but you could also say they are three plays away from 1-4 too.
And I believe their defense is ranked up near 100 or so. Not the makings of a top 25 team IMHO.

  18. packpigskinfan23 10/10/2006 at 6:05 PM #

“they are three plays away from 1-4 too”

    ^excellent point!!

  19. WolfPup35 10/10/2006 at 10:18 PM #

WHO THE HELL HAS BOISE STATE EVEN PLAYED???????

  20. BJD95 10/11/2006 at 10:47 AM #

Boise State beat a BCS team (Oregon State) and a pretty good team on the road (Utah), and beat them both senseless. The margin of victory makes them deserving of being ranked in the 20-25 range, IMHO. I’m certianly not saying their schedule is good enough to even be in the Top Ten if they go undefeated – but ranked, yes.

  21. cfpack03 10/11/2006 at 11:13 AM #

imo, GT absolutely should be ranked over ND. I’d even put them over Cal

  22. Wulfpack 10/11/2006 at 3:51 PM #

^That’s very fair. The Jackets did give ’em a run for their money, and they’ve only gotten better from playing that game. USC has been stumbling along, they’re bound to lose at some point. But the Pac 10 is very weak. They may just get by on talent alone. I really hope Ohio State and Michigan meet both undefeated. That’s an elimination game and Louisville/WVU may be as well. I hope the ACC can have a top-10 team next week, but I doubt it.

  23. class of 74 10/13/2006 at 9:34 AM #

My apologies to BC I guess they showed me last night they are much better than VPI.
