Yahoo Provides National Football Attention

On Thursday afternoon Yahoo.com used a great picture of a celebration of NC State fans and former tight end, TJ Williams. (What is it with Wolfpackers from Tarboro today?)

It’s great to see the Pack showing up in links like these. Below is an edited screen-grab of Yahoo.

Do you think they may have detected the region you live in and picked an image that would probably appeal to you, being from Raleigh, NC? Maybe they have a bunch of different images from schools all over the country and they pick the best one for the viewer when rendering the page. Same concept as targeted web ads.

If I lived in Raleigh, NC then I would think that would be the case.

Considering that I don’t live in Raleigh and my Yahoo profile lists me as living in Houston, TX then I don’t think that is the case.

Oh, ok. It was just a thought. That’s cool then if we really were displayed nationally on Yahoo!’s sports page!

That is my wife and I in the middle of that picture. My wife is the one touching TJ and I am right behind her. We have that picture, which was a two page spread in the Pack Pride magazine, framed in our State room. All I want now is this image as a jpeg. Can anyone get that to me?

On the same day that NC State was getting attractive national attention from Yahoo, the N&O was really fumbling their coverage in a very embarassing manner. I think that you will enjoy those flashbacks. […]
