Quick Media Follow-up

Man there is a TON of ‘stuff’ out there on the internet to share. SFN is definitely going to be challenged over the next month (pre-football) to pick and choose what to share and what to ingore.

Real quick…on the day that we decided to kick-start college football television viewing discussions, we’ve run across a few related fun items that you will enjoy.

First, Trev Alberts is back. Just not at ESPN. As much as Trev grated on most viewers’ nerves, ESPN’s studio-coverage certainly wasn’t as ‘dynamic’ after he left. Guess he needed a job to afford his wardrobe this season.

In the middle of the Harold Reynolds ‘scandal’ last week, we directed your attention to some damn funny blog entries that focused on some media personalities. This link about Mike Tirico is somehat of a follow-up to that and is fascinating. You’ll never look at the guy the same again.

I would still take Trev over having to listen to Stuart Scott or Chris Berman for sports viewpoints. I can forgive most anything but I can never forgive UNC for giving us Stuart….

C’mon Tom. You must not be as “cool as the other side of the pillow” or you would know that Stuart is “baptizing kids” in the ways of the “BOOOO-Yah” master. In other words couldn’t agree wtih you more.
But Boomer? No genius, but I find him entertaining.

What is it about being a play-by-play guy that produces all these sexual deviants?

Can’t help but hate Scott…but, he doesn’t do College Football analysis, so at least I don’t have to listen to him all day on Saturday.

From the “Sports Junkie entry, I know a lot of you don’t care a thing about golf but I want everyone to be aware of what an incredible job Terry Gannon is doing as a golf commentator. He was simply marvelous at the British Open. Terry’s main assignment at the Open was to interview the headliners at the conclusion of their round. His questions are intelligent, entertaining and NEVER call attention to Terry. If you wanted to make the most favorable comparison possible between NC State & UNC-Chapel Hill, just show clips of Terry Gannon and Stuart Scott at work.

Terry has done some college football in the past and he is very good. I don’t know if ABC will be using him this year.

Remember years ago when Jefferson Pilot was going to hire Terry Gannon to work ACC local basketball games? He ended up not getting the job because of the stink many UNC people raised saying he wouldn’t be fair to other teams (read UNC) because he went to NCSU? I guess Terry was so distraught that now he can only get network jobs at golf majors, olympic skating events, etc… Yep, looks like Terry really wasn’t worth hiring. Geez!
