The two major schools in North Carolina, UNC and NC State, have been even over the last 13 years. Each school has appeared in eight bowl games in that span, winning five of them.

    If we’d beat them we’d go to a better bowl. Any objective review would show the teams similar performance in bot NFL players, Bowl victories, and nationally ranked teams. And that is with them beating us 2 of every 3.

    I like that we play them late this year. It should always be that way. In the case of last year, had we played them late, we’d have beat them. Any archrivalry* should play late so that the intensity of the game doesn’t ruin the next three weeks (look at Texas in the Red River Shootout ’00-’04)and also so each team can develop and be at their best at the end (barring injury). I expect us to beat them this year down year or not and get a better bowl invite (cuz we travel WELL).

    *-saying the Duke game is bigger in football is laughable and meant as an insult

    ^Agree on many points.

    Of course, the 13 year time horizon works very much to Carolina’s advantage in this exercise as it includes about 4 or 5 Mack Brown seasons and the entire Mike O’Cain tenure.

    13 years seems either an oddly random or deliberately intentional number to pick for comparison. Someone with the intel wanna run a 10, 15, 20 year comparison?

    ok so I read the article. I get the 13 years. However, 13 is still a meaningless number for comparison purposes.

    Funny, over the last 6 season State has gone to 5 bowls while unx has gone to two.
    Over that same time State has had 5 winning seassons while unx has had one (note: in the 04 seaon unx was 6-6).

    Just going through the motions, not going anywhere or improving in reality, but staying close to Carolina in football. Woo who.
