Quote: Sidney’s Been There

“Sidney’s been there. He remembers the glory. He knows we hate Carolina. We hate Duke. Back then it was a rivalry. It wasn’t a nice friendly game. If we came back to campus and we had lost to North Carolina, man, it was dark on campus. And if we beat them, it was like a party. Sid remembers those times.

Yep, been there, done that. Knows what it takes, that it’s not impossible at all, knows that what everyone says now, doesn’t matter any more than it did two decades ago, and that that would just a single stepping stone before reaching even further in order to achieve the ultimate goal for NC State Basketball.

When he gets into the big dance, no matter the season record was that earned the spot, you know he is going to be confident, believe that his team has every right to be there and has a real chance to beat anyone he comes up against. He won’t be intimidated, he’s done it all before in the most phenomenal way ever witnessed, right there on the basketball court.

Wolfman, please expound. Are they going back to…….the unitard?

That’s not my favorite, I mean the two itty bitty red stripes (speaking of red stripes to the fridge) and STATE with no NC (cuz there is no other STATE ), like Sid and Co wore. I liked the jersaeys a couple of years ago, but that last switch was blah. If they just wear the jersesy they wore in Melvin’s senior year at the Reynolds game, kinda updated (baggy shorts) traditionals I’ll be happy.

He said he wasnt sure about the jerseys, but said they will probably make the floor at the RBC Center to look like the floor at Reynolds. And he said if they can raise the money, they are gonna put a golden statue of David Thompson in the RBC Center.

Raise money for a DT statue? That should take about 10 seconds.

Will “PACK” be on the shorts?

State’s slump started when Robinson removed the old Reynolds floor to put in the wood one he used in the 60’s. The floor in the RBC center is too dark and doesn’t look good on TV.

Didn’t the unitard have a navy blue stripe on them? How many games were played in the unitard? I can see no other reason why Valvano put the team in those except for the possibility that he got paid.

I like the unitard. As a matter of fact I wear one around the house and while working in the yard. The neighbors have never said too much about it. Come to think of it, they’re all usually already back inside shortly after I crank up the mower and before I even round the corner to hit the front yard.
