Quick Nat’l BBall Recruiting News

Some quick items of note for some of you junkies out there:

* Luckily for all of us, Carolina didn’t add to their ridiculous recruiting haul with the commitment of Kevin Love, the nation’s #2 rated high school player. Love will play for Ben Howland at UCLA…you know…UCLA….whose “bad” fans “ran away” a likeable coach who had success at UCLA that anyone would welcome. (Link). I am just shocked that anyone would want to coach for them after the behavior of their horrible fans! (sarcasm)

7 Seasons
6 NCAA Bids
5 Sweet 16’s
1 Elite 8
1 First Round Exit

* Former Mr. Basketball in the State of Kentucky is leaving Cincinnatti. (Link) There is nothing here related to NC State. Just interesting. Tilford wasn’t heavily recruited out of high school.

* NC State post target, Tracy Smith, continues to turn eyes and is attracting significant attention from Rick Pitino, Billy Donovan, John Calipari and others.

its all quiet on the recruiting front…. hopefully when the camps are over and when in homes start we can focus on some targets. Ay leat we have J. Thomas… thats a great start. But the new J Mac news is troubling to say the least. Here is to the staff pulling off a great 1st class with no time to build solied relationships

“UCLA just felt like the right place.”

I think it is well within reason to expect that type of statement in relation to our basketball program not too far down the road. That underlying feeling that had been set aside and never exposed to any recruits for a decade will come back the forefront under Sidney Lowe and benefit the program greatly once again.
