Baseball Ends Season Unranked

NC State’s baseball team generated an RPI amongst the top 20 teams in the country in the 2006 baseball season but failed to land in the final poll’s Top 30 rankings. The poll can be found by clicking here. The Wolfpack ended up the 7th ranked team from the ACC (which was easily the country’s toughest conference this season) in a season that produced a record eight MLB draftees.

The Wolfpack is sitting home again without a College World Series appearance as four different ACC schools make an appearance – UNC-CH, Miami, Georgia Tech, and Clemson.

* This is GT’s 3rd CWS in school history
* Miami’s 22nd appearance
* UNC’s 4th appearance
* Clemson’s 11th appearance

Including this season, since 1996:

* Miami has attended 8 CWS
* Clemson has attended 4 CWS
* Georgia Tech has attended 2 CWS
* UNC-CH has attended 1 CWS
* Florida State has attended 4 CWS
* Ray Tanner’s South Carolina has attended 3 CWS

    SFN – Your tirade is absurd. Nobody has said anything about firing Avent. (Heck, by Lee Fowler/ NC State-standards Avent will probably go down in the Hall of Fame.)

    If you aren’t interested in the relevant research and information that we provide (I haven’t seen a single place on the internet that shared recent CWS appearance stats and we had to research them ourselves) then feel free to take those reading comprehension skills and build fake arguments somewhere else

    We welcome any and all conversations where we can all learn something. We don’t welcome unwarranted conclusions and then criticism of us for their straw-man arguments.

    If we DIDN’T talk about baseball and some other topics, then you would criticize us for that.

    I hate Stanford.

    We should have been ranked.

    Hasn’t GT been to a lot more World Series than that? What was our final RPI?

    According to Boyd’s World, we are #14 in RPI.

    And yes, GT has 3 CWS appearances: 1994, 2002 and 2006

    That’s great! Too bad more than half of the conference is ahead of us. Brutal competition.
