What Hath God Wrought?

After ten years of this nonsense, I’ve finally had enough.

Herb Sendek must go. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Today’s result was a disgrace. A supposedly Top 25 basketball team was punk’d Broadway style by the alleged worst team in the ACC – and for the second time in less than a week. France showed more gumption against Hitler’s Panzer divisions than Herb Sendek’s basketball team showed against Wake Forest today.

Hell, shutting up Eric Williams’ overfed, overbearing, overindulgent mother was enough motivation for any normal team to stomp Wake’s ass into the Greensboro turf. Instead, we were treated to a 40 minute clown show of Justin Gray gangsta signs, schooling by Division II Wake white boys, and – most of all – Mrs. Williams and Eric, the most obnoxious mother-son duo since the days of Greek mythology. And our coach let all of this happen.

What the hell? I mean, really … what the hell?

And worst of all, there are no answers. Herb Sendek ain’t talking. Just another daytight compartment. Just another career effort by allegedly inferior players, from allegedly inferior teams, who just coincidentally happened to rise to the occasion – again – against a supposedly superior opponent.

This isn’t Herb’s regular UNC and Duke punking, folks. This is complete collapse. If you don’t realize that, if you keep on posting the same old platitudes to camouflage the fact that we are now an official conference laughingstock, then you’re dumber than a sack of hammers.

Herb Sendek must go. It’s that simple. Wendell Murphy can sit in his box, wipe ‘cue grease off of his lips, and mutter of “clean programs” all he wants. Smedes York can huff and puff with all the superannuated basketball expertise a late middle-aged ex-basketball white boy can summon. It matters not – Herb Sendek must go.

How long, one wonders, must what once was a proud championship tradition be hijacked by an athletic director whose benchmark for success is a lack of indictments? How long will big donors, supposedly intelligent men, be seduced by the siren song of Herb Sendek’s ego-stroking platitudes? How long will people who remember the glory days of NC State basketball continue to tolerate an athletic director who claims that fan discontent with this sorry state of affairs is, well, normal – because Coach K has his detractors, too?

Our tradition – what’s left of it – has been hijacked by bunco men and frauds. What will it take to wake the fanbase up and demand accountability?

Perhaps it’s time to file suit for fraud regarding the LTR’s, not that you would win, but it might create the embarassment needed to make a change. After all the LTR implies that we will field a BCS quality basketball program does it not?

Using that premise, the LTR’s are fraudulent.

There’s certainly an argument that fraud is involved, and it all goes back to Jethro Fowler.

The previous three games had me teetering – but this was it. We didn’t even show up for this game – again. After 10 years, lets face facts that Herb’s brought as far as he can. We’ve climbed out of the celler the N&O so graciously knocked us into, and we assisted by hiring Les. But today was as embarrassing a lose as I’ve ever had to sit through since I became in Pack fan 2nd grade in 1972. I couldn’t watch the second-half, and just listening made me sick. My wife actually suggest I move on from the Pack and start rooting for a winning team!!!! That is it. I’m done with Herb.

Our program is a joke in due of regime change. All the pieces are in place for a much better product…except we have nobody to lead the ship. Plain and simple.

Where’s Pac Daddy hanging out right now? I’d like to hear how Herb is a genius.

The real joke was Herb’s press conference. He actually said that we have played very well over this recent stretch. He also said that all the losses have come to Outstanding teams. I also laughed when he said that this recent rough patch shouldn’t take away from what WAS an outstanding season. How do the reporters just sit there and have this shit crammed down their throats. Ask the man a real question. Ask him why we seem to be the only team in the nation that has gotten worse as the season wore on? Ask him why no one on the team knows how to box out? Ask him why we waited until 2 mins. were left before pressing?

I hae been a state fan since I was in the 3rd grade in 74. I remember the State-Maryland triple OT game. I followed the pack through Hawkeye, Jimmy V ‘s run in ’83 and still watch that game via VCR. I suffered through the Les years and remained loyal. However, I have NEVER been so ashamed to be a pack fan until now. This current team shows no intensity, emotion or desire. We did not quite on them. They quite on us. Will I pull for them next week? yes. Do I want a coaching change? Yes and Amen. The time for a change is now.

Enjoy the 8/9 game in Uconn’s bracket.

Just keep hoping that the Meeechigan job comes open. Perhaps we could arrange a 24-hour prayer vigil on campus?

Why in god’s name would Michigan have Herb Sendek on their wish list? Is the AD there as mentally challenged as the one here? If and when Herb left here, which I don’t see happening, he’d be on the next train back to Miami (Ohio). I used to get jealous of people who win lotteries, but they don’t compare to Herb Sendek. The fact that he is paid what he is, just goes to show that you don’t have to be very talented in order to get rich in the good ole US of A. God Bless America boys, we all know that Herbie does.

when i was a little boy i got a ticket to the Dixie Classic and would go to Raleigh and stay with my grandmother and walk to the games 4 a day- 3 days. i have always been a NCSU fan . but today i could cry. this was worse than when we were renamed UNC at Raleigh in 1963 for 2 months. please Herb has got to go

Michigan is a football school. They want their basketball team to not be embarrassing. Being a perennial NCAAT participant would be enough for them, especially after a looooong NIT streak. There were what I believe to be credible rumors about mutual interest last season, but the decision was made to give Amaker another year. Sendek also apparently almost went to Michigan before Amaker was hired.

this season bares a strong resemblance to last year.

the only difference is that we have pulled out a few wins along this drought.

we truly have never recovered since the end of january/first of february.

the thing that irritates me the most is simply not being competitive.

Some people will argue that a loss is a loss no matter if by 2 points or 22 points.

I listen to the radio show on a weekly basis and I always hear herbie say “This team wants to win so bad”, “these guys have tremendous heart and fortitude” “what a group of guys to work with”.

But I watch every game and I must disagree.

These guys don’t want to win that bad.

The camera zoomed down the bench today I seen brackman’s expressions.

He looked as if he would rather be throwing a baseball somewhere.

But i am not surprised when I see no emotion out of players.

I guess they take after the coach.

21-6, 5 NCAA’s what do you want the next coach to do??

  15. TWolf 03/10/2006 at 10:30 PM #

    1. Show some intensity
    2. Not Embarass his fan base
    3. Make an actual coaching move DURING a game
    4. Win a game that actually means something
    5. MOVE THE HELL OUT OF RALEIGH

  16. TWolf 03/10/2006 at 10:32 PM #

Gee, I wonder why UNC only kept MD for 3 years?
    Has it paid dividends yet?

  17. william 03/10/2006 at 10:39 PM #

Herb set an NCSU record for most consecutive NCAA appearances and you guys want to fire him?

  18. TWolf 03/10/2006 at 11:03 PM #

    Yep!
Getting there is not the same thing as having a chance to win it>
Also, he has gotten there BARELY more times than not>

  19. kyle 03/10/2006 at 11:04 PM #

First of all, Matt was fired because they could get Roy williams. and if I recall the group that he (matt) recruited won a national title last year (McCants srewed him over). If you can show me a coach that would come to NCSU after we run a good person out on a rail I’ll support throwing him to the curb.
But TWolf is right the man shows no emotion ( if you think about any of the great coaches around today they are intense), he still can’t win games against the teams we all hate, and he still loses games, by large margins, to teams we should crush. I forget were I heard this one but it is a great point, find any game pics of timeouts, in Herb’s huddle his players are looking into the crowd, at each other, and generally not focused on coach. These players need a father figure, not a friend. Herb makes a good Assistant, not a good head coach. He won’t ever be the best coach in the ACC, Herb won’t ever win the ACC regular season, the ACC tournament, get to the final four, or win the hearts of all NCSU fans. All I can hope for now is to live long enough for him to retire.

    Herb is the herb, stoners!
    there are 19-year-old-stoners and
    49-year-old stoners.
    the 49’ers have mo’ money.
    ScoreBoard.

“Herb set an NCSU record for most consecutive NCAA appearances and you guys want to fire him?”

First of all, he hasn’t set the record yet.

Secondly, Les Robinson was the only other State coach to coach the team under the current NCAA format and league format (16 game ACC schedule). So, there is no other NC State coach in history to accurately compare this “accomplishment” with.

“Herb set an NCSU record for most consecutive NCAA appearances and you guys want to fire him?”

You, sir, are a perfect example of someone who can’t see the forest through all the trees. You just don’t get it do you? It’s not about making the tournament. It’s not about setting some God-forsaken record that means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of this program. What the hell does 5 years in a row in the tourney get us???? What does 21 wins get us if we can’t close it out????? It all means the same thing my friend…NOTHING. And it ain’t just this year either. It has become a trend. Two years ago Sendek had without question the best team NC State has ever had since the mid-80s. It was light years better than this supposed “best team”. And what did they do? Lost to a Roy Willaims team twice that went .500 in the ACC and promptly blew 2 huge postseason leads. That’s as good as this man can do.

Forget it. It’s over. He’s never gonna do anything worth getting truly excited about. He just can’t do it. And if this season doesn’t prove it to you, you’ll never see it.

No, he’s a UNC fan, troll, or both.

I have an idea. Why dont we organize a protest. Literally. Why dont some of you folks and myself and others in Raleigh or elsewhere, show up in front of Case and hold signs and chant for protest. We can even invite some of the local tv and newspapers. They would eat it up. Maybe, if we had at least a hundred people or so, it would at least bring the issue of mediocrity to the forefront and get the fan base motivated. At least it’s a start. I mean, isnt this what people do when there needs to be a change in the elite who are in power doing stupid things? Lets get off our asses and do something about it.

  25. scott 03/11/2006 at 1:03 AM #

I was thinking the same thing earlier in the week jlfarlow…if we can manage to go to the RBC Center & Greensboro like I did today to watch this crap, surely we could find some way to publicly protest. And don’t say that would embarrass the school. Hell, SenDICK’s program has already embarrassed us more than I ever thought possible. The first priority of the Athletic Dept. & the Wolfpack Club should be getting rid of Herb at whatever cost!
