HERB IS A NICE GUY AND A GOOD MAN! So is my neighbor, great family man and community leader, but he paints houses for a living. PLEASE give that nonsense up, it has nothing to do with basketball.

As far as consecutive trips to the NCAA goes, sometimes it’s better to just go on home early before you totally embarrass your conference, school, and all the fans, by being in the national spotlight while taking away the spot of a more deserving team, and looking like a group of pre-programed robots with no hope of winning a competitive game.

To continually showcase the coach’s inept ability to fall far short of all expectations and his player’s abilities while under the microscope of national sporting events such as the ACC and NCAA tournaments is nothing but damaging for the future. Get off the radar screen as fast as you can, take your licks and go on home.

Three of the former BIG 4 are still alive and representing the old guard of the ACC well. The fourth looked like they were newcomers, representing nothing from the past, and had nothing to prove.

    Guys:
Here is some e-mail information which may prove useful to those of you who are as disappointed in the direction of NCSU athletics as I am:
NCSU Chancellor:Dr. James L. Oblinger – [email protected]

Ath. Dir. Lee Fowler: [email protected]

Board of Trustees -go to this Web address to identify trustees – you’ll have to wing it from there:
    http://chancellor.ncsu.edu/trustees/members.html

It took Marye Ann Fox to get rid of Les. Who knows what it will take to get rid of Fowler/Sendek.

The best thing for the pack would be for us to turn down any NCAA bid….save us ALL a great deal of embarassment…

  6. ncsumatman 03/11/2006 at 3:04 PM #

I just can’t help repeatedly checking this site and others, waiting on the news of a firing or resigning. I really wish it would just go ahead and happen so I can give my laptop a rest.

A meaningless comment on your part. Att: Everyone else – note his atrocious punctuation. He didn’t capitalize the proper possessive noun (“states”) and left out the apostrophe. I suspect he is one of the many UNC fans who didn’t actually attend college (or maybe did attend college but went to UNC).

  8. UNCFan 03/11/2006 at 3:32 PM #

Actually I do go to UNC, and I am a Morehead Scholar. If you would like my name and PID number you can contact the University and confirm this. Let it be known that my seemingly erroneous comment was made because “Class of 74 uncouthly responded to a critique I posted of Herb’s performance (note: the post was not antagonizing NC State or their fans but was actually engaging in sports talk) by saying that he wishes I was the one who was run over by a car in the Pit. Another State fan responded insinuating that it was a shame I was not the student who fell from his dorm room window and died. Being a friend of the student who did pass away I was incredibly offended and steamed. NC State has many wonderful, classy fans; however, “Class of 74 is not one of them. I was very angered by these shockingly tacky comments and my last post was not meant to mock State fans in general. I also take issue with the fact that my post was removed by site administrators while the absolutely classless comments made above were allowed to stand.

^ Sure, I’ll take your name and check on that.

    Derwin Dubose

The only thing I can think to do is to stop donating to NCSU athletics. At this point, I feel like it is just throwing away money. During the course of the season State went from a “Hold to “Don’t Buy to a “Sell this week. If you look at State as an investment, it’s not worth putting money into. I have no confidence in the management team. Out CEO (Fowler) is clueless and doesn’t admit there are problems. Our COO (Sendek) just had a hellish 4Q and the investment community (State alumni/fans) does not have faith in a strong finish to the year. Really the only time he over performs is with minimal resources.

So, I recommend anyone with holdings in Sendek/Fowler sell. Take the money and bet on a first round NCAA loss.

  12. Mike 03/11/2006 at 4:29 PM #

Love the cartoon. Looks just like a time out on Pcak bench. Anyone ever wonder why we hold time outs on the floor instead of the bench? I think it is for the noise….but I think it is just as loud on the floor as on the bench, and last time I checked, no one listens anyway so what does it matter? I think I have it. They move to the floor so no one in the crowd can hear the things being said. Wait, that can’t be it either – I forgot, Sendek doesn;t say anything in the huddles.

  13. Cardiff Giant 03/11/2006 at 4:31 PM #

    “Derwin Dubose”

    PID number, please. Thanks.

I just can’t help repeatedly checking this site and others, waiting on the news of a firing or resigning. I really wish it would just go ahead and happen so I can give my laptop a rest.

Definitely keep coming to the site…but don’t be disappointed because any moves aren’t going to happen until the national coaching carousel takes its turns.

  15. UNCFan 03/11/2006 at 4:50 PM #

To Mr. Concerned with proving me wrong:

    http://alumni.unc.edu/article.asp?SID=2986

Why is it that I bother you more than the fan who tarnished the laurel of North Carolina State University.

PID number actually would not help you….well I suppose you could catch lunch at Lenoir.

Serious question: If State goes out first round, is there any chance that Fowler will dismiss Herbie?

  16. coppertop 03/11/2006 at 5:17 PM #

    I’d hope so UNCFan…
I also hope that the adminstration brings ALL of NCSU’s athletics up to par. As athletics director what fowler has not done is unacceptable. I’ve put up with the Herb Naysayers for years saying that he’s doing good things, well I’m off the wagon. I’m sick of settling for medicority. Sure it isn’t ‘fair’ to compare ourselves to our neighbors up tobbaco road, but in all reaility no matter who you compare yourself to, our record, performance, and lack of motivaiton to win with emotion is truely disappointing. When faced with adversity we usually crumble, no resolve = no positive results

herb’s not goin anywhere in 2006, face it guys.

lets hope these can help, though:

I just checked with UNC and they’ve never heard of this guy.

  19. lumberpack 03/11/2006 at 6:20 PM #

Why do some seem obsessed with how herb is a nice guy?

Some would call him a thief for the millions he’s taken based on what he has given in return.

POSTED Earlier by REDFRED ^^^^, Good post! but I took the liberty to slightly reword and make your good points. I hope you don’t mind.
    **************************************************************

HERB IS A NICE GUY AND A GOOD MAN and so is my neighbor, great family man and community leader, but he paints houses for a living. PLEASE give up all that nonsense about what a nice guy HERB SENDEK is, it has nothing to do with coaching basketball.

As far as consecutive trips to the NCAA goes, sometimes it’s better to just go on home early before you totally embarrass your conference, school, and all the fans, by being in the national spotlight while taking away the spot of a team with MORE DESIRE and is more deserving, all while looking like a group of pre-programed ZOMBIES with no hope of winning a competitive game.

To continually showcase HERB SENDEK’S inept ability to fall far short of all expectations and his player’s abilities while under the microscope of national sporting events such as the ACC and NCAA tournaments is nothing but damaging for the future. Yesterday, three of the former BIG 4 were still alive and representing the old guard of the ACC well. The fourth looked like a team of newcomers, representing nothing from the past, and had nothing to prove.

PLEASE BOW OUT GRACEFULLY AND END THIS EMBARASSING MESS!

    Cardiff Giant,

Did you not click the link I provided for you? You are obviously not very proficient with your research and validation techniques. Furthermore, the offices necessary for you to actually check on my claim were closed today. Today was Saturday, and not only was it a weekend…it is also spring break. To put it in a way you will understand…not only did you lie about confirmation of anything with UNC, you did it on a public forum where I actually provided the evidence for all to see. I suggest you check again.

Tough weekend for 3/4ths of tobacco road.

I’ll be surprised if Herbie is let go. I would imagine the most frusterating part of the entire ordeal is not simply the record…but how the losses come. Herb has no intensity…quite frankly, he looks worn out. At least he is a classy guy.

  22. lumberpack 03/11/2006 at 11:09 PM #

What are you planning to do with your degree in History, Derwin?

By the way, exactly how did that nut get into the Pit? Is there still an opening to it from the Graduate Library?

  23. Wolfpack Willie 03/11/2006 at 11:15 PM #

    Hey, UNCFan:
At least he is a classy guy.
You’re absolutely right . So was Les Robinson. So was Matt Dougherty.
Being a classy guy and being a good basketball coach are not mutually exclusive. (Think John Wooden) I actually admire Herb’s good points and wish he could get’er done in the gym, but 10 years is plenty of time to take the program back to competitiveness with other ACC basketball schools.
I know some UNC folks don’t like AD Baddour, but at least he had the cojones to stop the bleeding vis-a-vis Matt D. Look where you are now.

  24. UNCFan 03/11/2006 at 11:59 PM #

About the only thing one can do with a history degree is teach or go to law school. I have not figured out what the Lord has in store for me…and when I do I will pursue His will. The terrorist who drove through our campus accessed the quad through driving in-between Hamilton Hall and Davis Library. UNC, like many public places, has steel barriers which can be locked in the upright position to prevent any vehicles from driving along pedestrian paths. Often on our campus these were not secured in the upright position because maintenance staff oftentimes leaves them down. Also, when they are locked they prevent quick access to campus for rescue vehicles. Needless to say these barriers are locked in the upright position as of now.

In my opinion, this incident sheds light on the unfortunate state of our world. I fear what the news stories will be 20 years from now. I hope the liberties I so often take for granted are still there when my kids are growing up.

A couple of days ago I met a gentlemen who works in a 24 hour computer lab on campus. He was wearing a jacket with a small Marine Corps patch on it. He told me he served as a sergeant in the Marine Corps for 17 years. I then thanked him for the service he had provided for our country. I told him it was men like him that make this country the great place that it. He started to cry. He told me people never express any gratitude for servicemen anymore. In fact, it had been several years since anyone had thanked him. THIS IS REDICULOUS!!!! PEOPLE LIKE HIMSELF SHOULD BE THANKED SO FREQUENTLY THEY GET TIRED OF HEARING IT. I challenge everyone on this site including myself to always keep things in perspective. We should appreciate everything that God has given us. The reason I got so upset over the comments directed towards me is they made light of these very serious issues. Bottom line is this: Sports are fun. Go State, Go Heels….but at days end it’s just a game. I am upset we lost tonight as I am sure you are upset at State’s performance as of late. However, letting this game ruin a week or even a precious day which the Lord has so graciously allowed us is wrong and shortsighted. Spend time with family and appreciate you friends (as you never know when one of them might be taken from you). When you wake up each morning count your blessings and always take time to appreciate the small things in life.

On a lighter note, I agree with Herbie and Les being classy guys. However, I do not think Matt D exemplified any of the traits which basketball fans admire in the other two coaches.

    Wow!

    Carolina’s finest.

A Morehead Scholar and Daily Tarheel author with skills like these?

    Almost unbelievable.
