“I know the ACC inside-out. Duke is the dominant team, and I don’t think that is good for the conference. The more balance you have, the better it is for the conference. I think Boston College will be there at the end of the day, but I think the ACC is a one-horse race.”

As of this moment what’s to argue about with that? He’s right. It’s Duke and the eleven dwarfs so far. But maybe Wednesday night a miracle will happen and it will be Duke, State and the ten dwarfs!

There’s nothing I would love more than to see us knock off Duke at Their place. However, I have to agree with Cremins also. I despise Duke and coach K but you’ve go to give them credit. I expect this game to go like most every other Duke/State game in the Sendek era. They will cut off our passing lanes, play physical defense, and only get called for a fraction of the fouls they commit, resulting in numerous turnovers and easy lay-ups.

It’s been Duke and then everyone else almost every year beginning in ’99. Every once in a while they have a ‘down’ year like last where they finish 3rd in regular season and finish 27-6 overall.

Duke has double-digit ACC wins every year but two (including the Year of the Back) since 1991. When you figure in post-season success, K has dominated the ACC like no other coach in ACC history.

If nothing else Dookie V will have to say that the game between Dook and NC STATE, not UNC-CH is for FIRST PLACE in the ACC. Of course, we’ll also hear volumes about how mean and stupid the NC State fans are for not blindly supporting Herb. The problem is he’ll do that even if we lose by 40 and go o-fer the rest of the season. The only coach I’ve ever heard him praise more than Herb Sendek was Pete Gaudet. But I digress.

Herb needs to work the refs in a way that starts earning their respect or Simmons will play about five minutes before fouling out. You know, the refs hosed VaTech and Seth Greenberg against Dook only once. Greenberg got their admiration, grudging though it may be. The only miracles we need Wednesday night are the refs calling the game evenly and Herb letting our boys run the court with a GW-game type attitude. We need a balanced attack, some easy baskets, and inside production. We did well to shoot 50% on threes against Tech, but there’s no way that happens in Cameron. We need big games from Simmons and Brackman IN THE PAINT. This is not 2004. That team needed everything to go right and Dook to play under par to win. This year’s team is talented enough and is playing well enough to beat Dook straight up. When Dook turns up the pressure, don’t wilt, don’t get skeered, don’t fall apart. MAKE THEM PAY FOR THEIR AGGRESSIVE PLAY!!!
