An Urge for Consistency

Chip Alexander has a really nice piece on Cam in the N&O this morning and I don’t want it to get lost in the post-game articles and comments that will come later today. I always enjoy seeing a Wolfpack senior have his best performances as a senior…especially one that has had to work as hard for playing time as Cam has.

At some point in today’s game against Georgia Tech, N.C. State’s Cameron Bennerman surely will feel the urge.
The urge to do something loud and flashy with the basketball. The urge to wow Wolfpack fans with a high-rise, on-the-fly move.

Something like that big jam over Duke’s Shelden Williams last year. Something like that late steal and full-speed, left-handed, bang-it-off-the-glass shot against North Carolina last week.

I can’t relate to those kinds of athletic feats…but here’s something I can relate to 😉

He can be candid and blunt. “I don’t sugarcoat anything,” he said. “You don’t want your words to come back to haunt you [but] I call it like I see it.”

The part of the article I found revealing were the father’s comments about how tough it was mentally on the players in Herb’s system.

I rarely script plays for the coaches…but I would like to see more clear-outs for Cam. He had a nice drive and lay-up today.

Is it just me or do any of you see flashes of DT like moves at times from this guy? Sometimes he is quite amazing with his skills.
