Wolfpack makes Kellogg’s Sweet 16

…the Nevada Wolf Pack, that is.

The NC State Wolfpack failed to make Clark Kellogg’s projected 2006 Sweet 16. So, does that make NC State hoops hot? or not?

I don’t know the answer, but I do know that it would be nice for NC’ State’s program to have grown to a point that we would be in a position to garner some real national attention at some point.

Forgive us if we can’t accept the “give Sendek some time” mantra when more than half of the projected Sweet 16 have been in their jobs for less years than Sendek. I guess those facilities and traditions at West Virginia, Villanova, Wake Forest, Nevada, Gonzaga, Iowa, and Boston College really are something to behold.

Just how different are the expectations and timelines for “success” at NC State compared to other programs? Take a look at some numbers for yourself.

    I have always wondered how lonig you give a coach to win a championship (asuming that is the goal)? Obvioulsy more than ten years is the answer for this administration but at some point you have to cut bait.

    How long did it take Gary Williams to win something?

    IMO, you can’t measure coaches simply by championships.

    Also, does Clark Kellog have a regular job? The only time I see him all year is the NCAA tournament.

    * I agree about just judging by “Championships” alone.

    * Don’t know anything about Kellogg’s calendar & job.

    * Haven’t seen NC State projected into a Sweet 16 yet this year. Certainly, that means nothing as it relates to what will ultimately happen on the court. Certainly, that means something related to where our program is in year 10 for us to have made one S16 and not even be ranked higher than programs like Nevada, Gonzaga, and others even now.

    We are projected as a Sweet 16 in the preseason magazine I bought a while back. Lindy’s, I think. For whatever its worth.

    Thanks for sharing. That is good. I hope that it happens…and that in the future we are thought of more as a Top 15 program.
