Congratulations all the way around!!!

GoPack.com got Mario Williams picture correct and NC State placed seven football players on some kind of All-ACC team for the 2005 season. You can read about it here.

My primary gripe with voting is the omission of any mention of Oliver Hoyte. Until Mario’s emergence the last month, Hoyte and Tulloch were the super stars of this defense and he definitely deserved more accolades than it seems that he earned.

    We were 3-5 in ACC play and we have 28% of the first team defense. Five of our defensive players make 1st team or honorable mention. I hope our coaches realize the opportunity we squandered with this team because the fans sure do!

    We were 3-5 last year with the #1 defense in the country.

    I would like to have played the last two seasons with Jamie Barnette as the QB. State would likely have had 8-9 wins last year and 7-8 wins this year. However, I wonder if Chuck would have even recruited Jamie?

    Earlier, a number of people were whining about the future of State FB with Chuck as the coach. In addition to the last two years, the 2002 defense was highly ranked nationally as well. The improvements that Chuck has made in the defense, WRs, and RB’s are not as evident when the QB and to some extent the OL lags behind.

    His ACC record says it all 23w-25L .480 in six years while the previous coach was 26w -30L in seven seasons .470 in seven years. A tremendous upgrade!

    Regardless of numbers, I see three main distinguishing factors to the way Chuck’s ACC performance compares to MOC’s:

    (1) ACC is different now and CTC has had 4 games against VPI, Miami, & BC that would be hard to sell me that MOC would have won, either. Chuck is 1-3 in those games.

    (2) There is a BIG difference in being 3-3 vs Carolina compared to 0-7.

    (3) 3-3 vs FSU

    It isn’t much…but, put them altogether and the record feels a lot more acceptable than MOCs performance

    My point is we have invested given, however you look at it, Chuck so much and the results just don’t show. If we were mad with O’Cain we should be mad with Amato too. I’ll bet if you told the fans when Chuckwas hired that six years in he would be under .500 in the ACC they would have said: no thanks!
