    Hunter Cited For Marijuana, Suspended

    CHAPEL HILL, N.C.–According to a police report, UNC freshman defensive tackle Terry Hunter of Wendell, NC was cited for driving with a revoked license and misdemeanor possession of marijuana after being stopped for a vehicle equipment violation on Stadium Drive on campus shortly after noon on Tuesday.

    Hunter was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the citation, but he was found in possession of 5.5 grams of marijuana, according to the report.

    According to Captain Archie Daniel of the UNC Public Safety Department, Hunter was driving a vehicle owned by teammate Isaiah Thomas at the time and was released at the scene by Officer Dodson after being cited.

    The case will undergo further investigation.

    Hunter matriculated at UNC with the class of 2004 after a year at Hargrave Military Academy because he was not academically qualified after his senior year at East Wake H.S. in 2003. He finished the 2004 football season with four solo tackles and five assists, including one tackle-for-loss (4.0 yards).

    According to Kevin Best of the UNC Athletic Communications Department, Terry Hunter has been suspended from the team indefinitely. Head football coach John Bunting is expected to comment on the situation later today. “
