DeShawn Painter Transferring
CBS reported earlier that Jaqawn Raymond will transfer. Now The Wolfpacker is reporting, via Twitter, that DeShawn Painter will also transfer.
Junior center DeShawn Painter is leaving NC State due to illness in his family. Old Dominion is a possibility.
We wish Painter and his family the best wherever he ends up.

Well that really sucks. I wish the best for him and his family though.
THE SKY IS FALLING!!!
OK, feel better now.
I hope he kills it wherever he ends up. I just hope that Amile and Andrew Young both see that the possible PT just went up for both of them. I hope Gott can pull off bringing both in.
I just came here to find out about this after seeing a blurb on WRAL website. That sucks, so much for next season. Hope Paint, can take care of his family
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Best of luck DeShawn…we appreciate your contributions to Wolfpack Nation.
Best wishes to your family member that is ill, and to you in the future. Hope everything works out for you.
Bummer. Paint has been an asset to the team. He will be missed.
I really love Painter. I hate this for our program. Friggin All-ACC academic.
There’s always a chance that if it is a family illness there might be a change of heart on the transfer after things settle down. In the immediate aftermath of finding out news about your family, you feel like you have to run back home immediately, and after the dust settles a little bit, you realize that’s not always the best course of action.
Hope he does what’s best for himself and his family. He fast became one of my favorite State players.
Gosh this really stinks. I wish Painter the best, and of course hope his family member’s health improves. This is a big loss, no quesion.
Sorry to hear Deshawn is leaving and about his family situation. I truly hope the best for him, wherever he lands and wish his family health and healing.
He will always be part of the Wolfpack family. The “dance” with Gottfried after the NCAA Tourney announcement was priceless.
Bad news – I really enjoyed watching his game improve over the course of the season. However, I understand and wish the best for him and his family.
Nooo! Painter is one of my favorites. I think he will continue to improve and become a force. Hope everything goes well for him wherever he ends up.
bye Pringles. I will miss you.
Always a member of the PACK! i hope all goes well with his family!
For the last few weeks, looking at who we have this fall and who is leaving after next season, I have been thinking to myself that Coach should redshirt Painter. Then we would have Vandenberg and Painter after Leslie, Howell and Wood leave. I know we got new guys coming in, but I’m a bird in the hand kind of guy. I hate this. Painter has meant so much to the team the last 3 years.
Best of luck Deshawn.
Somewhere Ron Kelley is crying.
1-Wish the best for his family
2-If he leaves I hope he has great success. I really liked him.
3-While a loss for us, may be a better deal for him elsewhere to start and get more minutes vs sharing behind Howell.
Still, quality big men are the one thing you can’t have enough of. Vandenberg is REALLY going to have to tighten his arse up.
We need to sign a big in this class, period.
Best of luck Deshawn … you will be missed. You were one of the favorites of many of us …. especially me, coming from the Tidewater area myself. guess I’ll have to start following ODU or where ever you land. The best to you and your family. Thanks for the years you gave us.
amile jefferson are you listening. You will take Painters place.
I think it’s odd that two players announced this at basically the same time.
V-berg can’t cut it on this level, so I would not count on that.
Harris to leave also most likely. JP Giglio mentioned it on Twitter already…wouldn’t surprise me
I don’t know if it’s good or bad that these players are all leaving. Are they rats jumping off a sinking ship? Or are THEY the ones that were sinking, and are just going where they see themselves playing more? (Other than Painter, of course — not trying to dismiss his family member’s illness or anything…)
Any chance these transfers mean they know something we don’t about who else might be joining the Pack soon?
