Monday morning in Wolfpackerville or NC State is 8-35-2 in all fall sports

Hello Monday, Wolfpackers!

About a month ago, we took a quick view of NC State’s weekend sports performance on our message boards that included the following:

Rifle team falls to Nebraska

Volleyball swept by Duke

Soccer loses to Wake

Football dismantled by Boston College

[snip]

Our ACC record in volleyball in the ten seasons while Lee Fowler has been AD now stands at 6-170. That is not a typo.

Seven ACC teams have 6 or more ACC wins THIS SEASON.

Our ACC record for fall sports with win/loss records is 4-22-2.
Football: 0-3
Volleyball: 0-10
M Soccer: 2-3-1
W Soccer: 2-6-1

And as best as I can tell, the rifle team is 0-4 in the GARC.

It’s the start of another week and we thought that we would take a moment to highlight what is making news at NC State by looking at the main stories from NC State’s Minister of Propaganda, Gopack.com

Rifle_Loss_11_16_09_sm

Soccer_Loss_11_16_09_sm

VB_Loss_11_16_09_sm

State’s 23-43 drubbing at the hands of Clemson less than 48 hours ago is already considered ‘old news’ by the good folks at Gopack.com and isn’t even rotating through the main stories.

But, our resident statistician did a little update for us on NC State’s ACC competition this fall —

ACC records for fall sports:
Football: 1-5
Volleyball: 0-17
M Soccer: 2-5-1
W Soccer: 2-7-1
M Swimming: 2-0
W Swimming: 1-1
Total: 8-35-2 (.178)

* I think rifle is 0-5 in the GARC, gopack.com says we are unbeaten in the SEARC, but trying to find rifle records and standings is next to impossible.

* Volleyball ACC record under Fowler is now 6-177 (.033). 9 ACC teams have 7 or more ACC wins this season.

At least the Men’s Soccer loss was in the ACC Championship Game. Hey, I am looking for any bright spot.

I know one of the NCSU students who’s pictured above, and I feel sorry about seeing these students’ photos posted on this critical assessment of non-revenue Pack sports.

On the other hand, I’d be happy to see a mug shot of the coach or coaches who’re responsible for our volleyball team’s 6-170 mark this decade. Put ’em beside Jed and show us the whole Clampett clan.

    woe, woe, woe

that’s all i can say, and only gloomy clouds on the horizon

whatever has befallen us – we are roundly losers, losers, losers

    and no change in sight!

does *anyone* have any good news? or any reason to think that anything will actually change for the better?

Thanks for cheering me up on a Monday! Glad my wife took away my shoelaces and belt before I came to work…

Look at the bright side. At least we have top notch facilities to lose in.

Just wait till … oh, never mind.

At least the men’s basketball team is undefeated… oh wait… never mind.

^ We have a spotless record of 1-0. No reason to think we’re going to lay an egg soon either. Might as well enjoys the wins while we are getting them.

I’ve been to Nebraska. I’ve seen their cornfed women. This isn’t a surprise to me.

    “woe, woe, woe

Sounds like some place in Lord of the Rings.

Do we need to drop something into a volcano all the while avoiding Jed’s evil eye on top of Tower at Brown-Weiseger?

    Folks,

This is putrid. I challenge anyone with time on their hands to identify a more futile sports program in NCAA history.

Are we actually paying Cherita Stubbs for this or is this strictly on a voluntary arrangement?

  16. Waittilnextyear312 11/16/2009 at 9:54 PM #

Wow, how could you even go like 10 years and have a record of 6-170 and not do anything, you have to try to be this bad at being an Athletics director if thats what you want to call Lee Fowler

  17. redwolf87 11/16/2009 at 10:02 PM #

I never thought I would see a legitimate sports stat that would actually make my career baseball batting average look good by comparison.

0.033. Gee, I feel like Ted Williams.

  18. Dogbreath 11/16/2009 at 10:32 PM #

6-170. This is nothing more than lack of pride. No one can be this bad, unless you just don’t give a shit.

  19. osiris1706 11/16/2009 at 11:00 PM #

I can’t decide which is worse, Fowler doing his best Chip Diller “Remain calm! All is well” or the posters and authors on here doing their best Glum from Gulliver’s Travels (cartoon version), “we’ll never make it, we’re all going to die”.

  20. BassPacker 11/16/2009 at 11:04 PM #

Cheeses, how can anyone (Fowler) face the Wolfpack Nation with these kind of results? Are the powers to be that blind? This is absolutely unacceptable results for a proud fan base like NCSU. Wow, these results is mindboggling.

Golf buddy or who ever can’t be so blind as not to see Fowler is making NCSU the laffing stock of NCAA athletics.

  21. Octavian 11/16/2009 at 11:27 PM #

I scolded a buddy for being a defeatist when he said maybe, just maybe, we don’t have the goods to compete at the highest level. He said we are doomed as a second tier program a la an Iowa State or a Miss. State (the latter has actually been to the final four and an SEC championship game of two). I don’t know about all that but I am reaching the point of divorcing myself of all things NCSU athletics.

The only thing that saves us is if we torch the barn and start over. Time to rid ourselves of all the pinheads and pig farmers. A 1M infusion of cash and a place on the BOT per Jim Goodnight would also be a nice kick start. God help us…

  22. Gene 11/16/2009 at 11:49 PM #

Just scrap the athletics department all together. I’m serious.

I no longer live in North Carolina, and every time I think about wearing an NCSU shirt out, I realize “why bother”. What exactly am I touting?

No one’s heard of us outside of the South. Every time I tell someone I went to college in North Carolina, they assume I’m a Tarheel or root for the Tarheels. A few worldly folks assume, since I’m not a Tarheel fan that I went to Duke.

I’m tired of living in shame of a pathetic athletics program. Kill it and put us out of our misery.

We can find other schools to root for, just like pro fans find other teams to root for, when a team skips town.

  23. wolfpacker 11/17/2009 at 12:31 AM #

There can be some good to come out of all this MESS! Eventually they will have to get rid of Fowlup, then the whole house will crumble and we can start all over. It’s best if it happens tomorrow as opposed to anytime in the more distant future. Sooner rather than later is the best medicine. Aren’t you tired of HOPING and PRAYING that the Wolfpack will be good at just ONE SPORT?

This university’s athletic department is the laughing stock of ALL NCAA SCHOOLS, the athletic administration is full of CLOWNS!

What we do have are PASSIONATE FANS and very good facilities! Change the CLOWNS out for respectable humans that want to do their best and build a successful sports program and we will begin winning! Hire successful coaches with proven records, not friends, and family that we want to ‘take a chance’ on. Do it like our counterparts do…DO IT RIGHT NEXT TIME!

Keep the CLOWNS around and they just get laughed at more and more.

30 years ago, no one knew Duke or UNC, but they knew the Wolfpack of N. C. State. Our athletic administration has failed us miserably…and it must change TODAY!

My 15 year old daugther is starting to think about a college to attend. She has been a wolfpacker since day one, attending football and basketbal games, and sees me watching any NC State sporting event on tv. She’s been thinking about which college she wants to attend and the day before we played Clemson she says she might would like to go to Clemson. I asked her why. Shes says it’s warm there (she only knows it’s in SC and south of us, not that it’s in the foothills) and they are good in football. I started a discussion about athletics and colleges with her. It’s a fact, kids want to go to schools who are successful on the athletic field. I’ll change her mind, she will wind up at NC State.
