Mario Impresses

We just talked about Philip Rivers’ great performance on Sunday, so it is only fair that we follow-up the entry with a little bit on Mario Williams, who forced a fumble and was involved on five tackles during the Texans first (EVER) win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Williams has played solidly throughout the entire season. His play on Sunday prompted Sports Illustrated’s Peter King to write the following:

I think the Texans made the drafting of Mario Williams and DeMeco Ryans look very, very good Sunday. Both were vital in the win over the Colts. “I don’t care how people judge me,” Williams said afterward. “I know I’m a part of building something good for this franchise.” He showed it Sunday.

Mario’s strip on the Colt’s opening possession was beastly. He held off the tackle who was attempting to block him with his right hand while stripping the ball from the RB with his left hand. No replays of it on ESPN. I guess Reggie Bush’s 1 yard TD run that they showed 16 times was more impressive.

I’ve heard talking heads mentioning Reggies name for rookie of the year again, and insist he has had a great year….

    makes me sick.

Maurice Jones-Drew, Vince Young or Aints WR should win the award. Jones-Drew has 15 TDs this year.

Reggie has had a great second half, but what Vince is doing is spectacular. Jones-Drew is performing at a higher level too

Colston is the Saints WR… and he has been excellent. I would have to go with JonesDrew or Young though…. What Young is doing is unbelievable.

Mario has a sore foot and has been playing with some pain. Defensive plays aren’t as flashy as TDs and the media loves Reggie so I don’t see Mario getting much respect.

Jones-Drew reminds me of a Barry Sanders type with better goal-line ability. He’s a freaking monster. 15 TDs as a carry-splitter (usually getting less than 50%, too) is simply amazing.

Yep – BJD – Some were foolish enough last year to compare his stats to Bush…Wish I’d remembered him on FF draft day – I picked De-Injured Williams on our draft day.
