Checking in on State’s BBall Recruits

Since NC State signee, Johnny Thomas, will be playing tonight at North Raleigh Christian Academy (7pm) then we thought that we would quickly touch upon the performance of some of the high school players that have committed to join the Wolfpack in the past.

We’d like to offer a hearty thank you to Dan for sharing the following with us earlier in the week:

In the spirit of what KenPomeroy does, and it complete rebellion to those “premium sites” that charge to regurgitate newspapers, I offer the following links to newspapers that cover incoming pack recruits…

Clicking on these links doesn’t work. I went back to Dan’s original post about 4/5 of the way down in Rebound Checkin. I copied that into a word file and the links work great. Now I can easily get to them anytime I want. Thanks, Dan.

Bob Gibbons has the Pack’s 2007 class ranked 18th after the early signing period. Other ACC teams in his top 25 are 5-Duke, 20-VaTech, 23-UVA, 25-GaTech.

forgive me, but didn’t we have a top 10 or something Gibbons recruiting ranking the year we have Kenny Inge and Ron Kelly. but maybe there is some difference now *smirk*

… and what ever happened the Chuck Kornegay

Transferred to Villanova. They were pretty decent back then but I don’t think Kornegay scored a whole lot

We were top 10 that year by Brick Oettinger who I consider the best in the business. We had six players in that class including three top 75 players in Inge, Kelley, and A. Miller(top 40). Two players transfered in R. Anderson and Rhouldra Thomas. C. Williams was the other member of that class.

Gibbons is infamous for ranking D. Wilkins #1 in the nation is sr. year. Brick had Damien barely in his top 20.

Brick has our class this year as a top 10 class by the way.

30 points for Tracy Smith in a loss! Not bad. Mays led to two wins, had 13 pts and 4 steals in one, and 20 points in the other, he’s averaging 25 points a game this season. Looks like he’s scoring well, no mention of his assist total. Smith is gonna be a beast.

I thought I’d file this in this recruits post (attempting to stay on target): In the event anyone missed it buried in the N&O high school scores, CJ Williams tossed in 31 points in a win yesterday. Looks like Lowe is recruiting a lot of guys who “know how to fill it”…
