Cat was left off the just released midseason Bob Cousy list of top 10 point guards. He is following a similar trajectory of TJ Warren in lack of national recognition. TJ was left off “Wooden Award watch lists” in 2013.
NC State is more like the Bears. A program with a lot of tradition that last won a championship in the 1980s.
Since the NFL has beefed up their Thursday night games by playing divisional match-ups on CBS. The ACC might want to allow more Friday games for exposure. It won’t be “perfect exposure” since recruits would be playing on Friday, but for ratings, etc the ACC might do better on Friday if an important NFL game has locked up Thursday night’s audience.
I am anticipating this will be a variation of the EDI excuse with rehashes of other notable cases, e.g. Dexter Manley. It would surprise me if new information is presented, or if an embedded reporter is working the story. This is their “golden goose” after all.
I actually prefer them to a Sunday night game, especially during football season. Now let’s see if my opinion changes after attending one next Monday. And at 9PM to boot.
My Penn State buddy was bemoaning that with their James Franklin hiring sports columnists were opening up old wounds. He thought it might be for years that PSU presented themselves as “Holier than Thou” and this is payback by writers with axes to grind. I agreed and mentioned that same is happening with UNC. He countered that nationally they have gotten away Scott-free. “It is a local story”. I said that I hoping that might change now that Sara Ganim is now involved. And he agreed with that!
It has to be the band. The band has been growing in size and reputation the last few years and it is about time we recognize this and give them this honor.
There are plenty of opportunities to play the canned music throughout the course of the game. The band however should be the ones delivering the sound at this significant moment.
