ParticipantOur fan game day experience folks suck ass. One freaking person, ONE, checking people in at gate 5. At the rate theyre going, they’ll be lucky to get the line in by halftime.

ParticipantWolf grey.
tjfoose1
ParticipantBut we are the Wolfpack, beej. Look at it as wolf grey.
Go Hokies!

ParticipantHe is simply a minor league for the NBA.
Yep. And he sells it hard. That’s pretty much all that’s needed for a majority of the top 10 recruits. Given the system, can’t blame any of them.
Play for Cal one year, put in the effort and time, and you’re set for life. Maybe put in a 2nd year. Worst case, they’re given an early reality check that the NBA will not be their ticket, a la Bubble Guts. And that’s not a bad result either. The sooner it’s realized, the better.

ParticipantI’ve only read a few of the comments, so forgive me if this was mentioned.
It’s not only about awarding Gott an extension, it’s also for recruiting, to show the school’s commitment to Gott, and thus to the recruit and what Gott is selling.

ParticipantThink of it from Bam’s perspective…Coach Cal and his arsenal and demonstrated promotion to the NBA vs. Coach Gott and his scraping into the tourney every year with the occasional NBA draft pick…I’m just glad that Dennis Smith actually signed his LOI before Bam’s announcement.
Exactly. All of that.
I’m thinking the late push and hard sell from Cal convinced him of the same. Actually the smart decision, over the emotional, personal “want to” of going to State and playing with his friend.
Who knows, maybe without that injury, DSJ waits too, to announce with Bam. I wouldn’t like our chance had that happened. That injury may have been Gott’s saving grace.

ParticipantIf they can’t win with the talent when Wall was at UK or last year, they won’t win. Its hard to have that much talent on the floor when the “individual” is trying to sell himself and still play as a team.
Huh?
Did you miss 2012? I’m no Cal or UK fan, but they’re an annual top 5 team when the sophomores on the rosters are their veterans. I’d venture to say they’d win the championship every other year, or at least every 3rd year, if UK could was able to keep every recruit at least 2 years.
And “individual”? Seriously? Do you not watch their games? Do you not look at the stats? The mpg? the ppg?
That said, who the hell is BAM ?
That explains it

ParticipantSaw it live on ESPN this morning.
Wish he was coming to Raleigh, but objectively speaking, from the perspective of what is best for him and his future, there really was no decision.
Good luck. Hopefully you’ll meet up with your good friend DSJ deep in the NCAA’s.

ParticipantOops.
3-0 and 9-4.
In my defense, I did write ‘improbable’. 🙂
Forgive the either phone keyboard typo or mental slip. Probably the latter.
tjfoose1
Participant… Plus, as improbable as it appears today, finishing out 3-0 would and 9-3 would be a huge validation stamp for both coaches and program.
Can’t finish out 3-0 without starting rum at 1-0.
Many of the team goals are gone. The game is one of emotion. 3-0 and 9-3 are worthy motivations for the stretch run.

Participant^I see it slightly different. While a win vs Syracuse does not change the trajectory, I think a loss does.
Finishing out 1-1 going into a bowl game would mark the end to a disappointing regular season, but it would put the Pack program at just above holding serve with an ever so slight upward curve, IF considering over all program health, recruitment, player development, etc.
Though Syracuse is not a bad team (look beyond the L’s to their performances against LSU, Clemson, and Pitt) it is a ‘must win’ to avoid taking a step backwards. A loss would certainly give legitimate credence to detractors.
But then, I already hold a minority opinion. Though the loss to FSU was disappointing, I see the performance as validation that the program is improving. You gotta look past the trees to see the forest.
Unrelated: Although Cook got the better of him on a crucial play, true freshman LB Nicholson impressed again. We have a potential star in the making. Interested to see what a year in the weight room and a handful of game experience and film equates to next season.

tjfoose1
ParticipantYep, I know.
tjfoose1
ParticipantThere they are.
tjfoose1
ParticipantFake punt. Oh darn, they got it.
tjfoose1
ParticipantThere we go.
And the announcers are in ‘oh darn!’ mode.
tjfoose1
ParticipantWhat I wouldn’t give for State to pick up Bud Foster at the end of the year. Would be great for Tidewater recruiting and we’d have a better defense.
Hadn’t thought of that. Guess I assumed Foster would get the VT gig. Now I’m hoping he doesn’t. Love this idea.
tjfoose1
ParticipantHo hum… NC State gets a first down. Whatever.
This is getting funny.
tjfoose1
ParticipantGotta score, this drive.
tjfoose1
ParticipantThe difference in the announcing depending upon who just made a play is ridiculously blatant.
tjfoose1
ParticipantThat hurts
tjfoose1
ParticipantMaguire is due to tweak something
tjfoose1
ParticipantAnd there’s the excitement back in their voice when FSU stops the Pack on 3rd down.
tjfoose1
ParticipantNotice the change in the octave of their voice with that?… They sound disappointed with that Jacoby pass for a first down.
tjfoose1
ParticipantAnd the announcers pick up right where they left off with the FSU lovefest.
