Guess I jumped gun when I prematurely predicted Jimbo would get FSU ‘back’ and win title during his first year in Tallahassee.

Actually, I think it was before he had coached a single FSU game, when I was discussing how Fowler cancelled Jimbo’s interview (and the potential for a Jimbo/Bo combo) and announced TOB as coach.

Not every premature prediction turns out to be wrong…especially if you make enough of them. Unfortunally, the vast majority of optimistic predictions about State have turned out to be horribly wrong.

    No harm no foul Va.

Personally, I enter data all the time. Now…it probably isn’t quite the same data base statisticians may have in mind, and the mode of entry and storage is very archaic.

In fact, I already have a pretty good take on what to expect in this next game.

Premature, of course, not knowing who the opponant is or venue, for that matter.

…Barring key injury and based on the Louisville experience, the multiple looks State has given in the front 7 and coupled with an offensive rainbow of colors…3 weeks of prep…

    The spreadsheet says…
In a very entertaining game, a Sade FG is the difference maker in a game State wins.

Thus laying to waste the pessimistic and trolls alike, in one fell swoop.

‘Til August of 2015, of course.

But we aren’t talking about “the vast majority of optimistic predictions about State.” The context for this conversation is the accusation Rick made about foose judging this football team based on one game, the Holes beat-down. In context foose’s assessment of this State football team isn’t wishful thinking or optimistic prediction.

My remarks are in no way are a lack of appreciation for or meant to lesson the value of WV Wolf’s work producing the stats for this thread. As Doeren’s program matures in the next several years, these stats will take on a very meaningful role in evaluating the program. To think that stats are meaningful as significant measurement of a program in transition is just damn foolishness.

I wouldn’t call a prediction whose roots go back to Jimbo’s playing days in WV “premature”. It only appears that way to others who do not share the same info and experience.

As to the current “premature prediction” of “it’s pretty obvious to me there’s something brewing in Raleigh”, is neither premature nor a prediction.

But some folks apparently need something to argue about.

    If only that we’re true…

… Mr. Dog… if you put “Cut down on the ‘You said..’… ‘No I didn’t’ stuff ” on the SFN Christmas List that would be nice too…

Just a little correction from a noob. Mr. Dylan sang,” It don’t take a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.” (not weathervane).

BTW, the so-called Weathermen of the radical Weather Underground took their name from that song. Allegedly.

Ashe, thanks for the correction. The older I get the less accurately I hear the old songs in my head. You’d think I’d know better. I was working for Columbia Record Distributers in the Boston branch when Mr. Dylan’s first LP came out. A secretary and myself put on the demo at lunch the day it came in. We were going to just listen to see what kind of music “Bob Dylan” was. When the demo ended and lunch was over, Jo and I looked at each other and I said, “I don’t know what this is but we’ve got something here.” No original stuff IIRC but what an album.

I learned a valuable lesson with that record. Never let the boss make a fool of himself. The Branch Manager told us, “Don’t buy any of that sh!t.” He also was the guy who told me, never let the boss make a fool of himself. He did not like being reminded of that.
