A Message to Tyler Lewis; We’ll Be Ok.

Hey Tyler,

We saw the tweet you threw up after the loss last night

and we want you to know that you never have to apologize to us fans. We appreciate your thoughtfulness in doing so but it is completely unnecessary. If you didn’t play your hardest or didn’t work your hardest to prepare for the game then maybe you can apologize. Anyone who has watched the games this season will know that is not the case. In all the games this year the team has played hard, played with effort and has generally been fun to watch. As a State fan that is all we can ask for especially after last season where that wasn’t always guaranteed to happen. Sure, the loss last night stung everyone a bit but State Fans Nation as a whole needs to just step back from the ledge this morning. It’s not the end of the world. Basketball season is a marathon, not a sprint.

The team played hard but somedays the shots just don’t fall. I’d feel safe in saying I doubt we’ll go 3 for 20 from the arc again this season while at the same time giving up 45 free throws. That’s a recipe for disaster and sometimes it just happens that way. Nine out of 10 times we win that game and last night was that one time.

The season is young, the team is young so let’s all just hang in there and get ready for the Florida Gulf Coast game. I assure you, brighter days are ahead for the entire Wolfpack Nation.

Sincerely,

JackWolf

I really like that kid, and I hope his shot comes around.

I appreciate what the kid is doing here. But last night wasn’t his fault. Personally I blame someone a little higher on the org chart.

I liked what I saw from Tyler last night. His drives to the basket were just we needed to break the zone. It’s unfortunate his shots didn’t drop just like some of the free throws but that happens. I was disappointed but not crushed. I think we’ll be fine as the season progresses.

That game will probably prove to be a cornerstone to the development of this talented but young team.

Not even close to his fault. Wish it were that simple. Keep your head up, kid. We need you.

    <3 Tyler.

^^And I hope 'foose is correct in his assessment. The team having a collective attitude like Tyler's would go a long way to that being true.

Don’t let it get to you. Add it to your book of knowledge and move forward.

Since I don ‘ Tweet nor FB, I don’t know HOW to get the word out that way….but I know how to email….

Tyler, we appreciate your sincerity and do not feel that an apology is in order….and also totally respect you, both as a player and a student.

    We’re still behind you….100%….

  9. Pack Leader 11/21/2013 at 3:41 PM #

Lewis needs to have a little bit of that Monte Towe fire that was showed in the “glory days”. We need a true LEADER.

Warren is great by himself, but he still lacks the leader quality this team needs. Lewis is the only on-court leadership available…

It was a nice tweet out to Wolfpack Nation.

I’m still behind Tyler and the rest of the squad 100%. But let’s face it, he didn’t play well at all last night… and we lost to a lesser squad.

No worries, Tyler – we got your back.

You know, that whole “The strength of the wolf is the pack…”

You tried to make something happen for us last night and you have nothing to be sorry about. The other guys need to be going to the basket when you drive yourself so your not caught in the land of the giants with no one to dish it off to.

All well put sentiments. Tyler, keep the chin up, man–and let’s take some frustration out next week on Fla Gulf Coast.

We’ve all these players back. This is a team sport and the 2014 version plays like a TEAM. They will continue to climb the steep learning curve but they are going to turn the corner at some point.

The next big step is staying out of foul trouble. We have guys willing to defend this year but no one is talking and working together at this point. We will not improve until we can begin forming a rotation out of convenience rather than necessity.

Just get focus on the next game and get back in the fight.

No need to apologize, just don’t let that happen again. Yes, I know we will lose again. Learn and build on each game, each practice. Go get FLGC. Better days ahead.
