Highlights From NC State Hoops’ “Basic Athletic Measurement” Testing

All may be quiet on the basketball front right now, but an interesting video has popped on YouTube showing highlights of the Wolpack’s men’s hoops team going through B.A.M. Testing – or basic athletic measurement.  It’s a basic measurement of different fundamental athletic skills, and identifies areas that a particular athlete may need to work on and enhance in order to ultimately improve their game.  According to the video, State is currently the only university utilizing this particular system, and it looks impressive.

BAM Testing has developed a proprietary evaluation system that converts your test results into a standardized score. The scoring system has been developed over 25 years and allows you to compare and categorize yourself with a peer and elite population. In other words you will know exactly how you rate and compare against athletes. This is what makes it so meaningful.  The scoring is based on your best trial result for each test. Using BAM Testing’s extensive results database, each protocol result is assigned a value with the cumulative total equaling a BAM Score . The BAM Scoreâ„¢ not only provides you the ability to categorize and track your progress, it opens the door to goal setting and future success.

    Hoops news!!!! Yes!!
Sounds like a great program. And if, in fact, we’re an early adopter – I love it!

One that impressed me was #10 Lennard Freeman. That big man could really get in a stance and move. The music was sounding so tight until JV popped up on the screen and killed the buzz.

There’s a certain poster on here who might take issue with them using his name for their test thing.
Jordan V appeared to get the highest of anyone. Theoretically he should be able to go up and over a good number of people playing down low. I know there’s more to it than just getting up, but he’s also not a small, skinny guy either. Point being, surely there’s something he can do well in his own way (not relying on athletic ability/running up and down the court necessarily). The guy’s been around forever, I’d love for him to have some meaningful use for the team on the court. Perhaps if he grew out his hair, curled it, and dyed it red…

PIR, you really oughta warn folks before you unleash one of those. I just choked on iced tea and must now spend a few moments mopping up.

And yes, I thought the same thing re: the “BAM” testing. Won’t surprise me if he’s along before it’s over to weigh in on their need to compensate him.

Definitely a recruiting tool (simply because we have it and no else does at the moment) that should be present when potential Wolfpackers visit. Cat Barber is ridiculously quick.

I can’t wait to see Cat on the court. My gosh he is quick. He has some good mix tape video’s on YouTube as well. Tyler looks like he has bulked up some. Should be some highlight reel passes this year.

    Quick old school flashback.

New show this year “Back in the Game.” James Caan is the star, playing a character named Terry Gannon. Maggie Lawrence plays his daughter, Terry Gannon Jr.

    What a hoot for TG!
