    They did not suck. FB was not where they should have been. BB was not where they could have been.

    Softball went where a few thought was possible, sans Navas.

    But the boys of Spring / Summer …wow. Saved a coach’s job, and carried the Wolfpack year.

    As much lifetime agony as it has caused me…I wouldn’t trade my wolven allegiance for anything. It’s an absolutely essential part of who I am, second only to being a father.

    Plus, I have 1983 to remember forever. I swwar that even after I am senile enough not to know my name…that run will still be crystal clear in my mind’s eye.

    Interesting the way you worded this. I was trying to explain some of the nuances of being a Pack fan to someone about a month or two ago. After explaining some of the more challenging (let’s call them “character building”) aspects of it, her response was something to the effect of “too bad you aren’t just a fan of another team”.

    Realizing she didn’t understand, and likely never would, I only told her this…. no, it’s not….it’s who I am and it’s a huge part of “why” I am who I am. If I had gone to another school or had been raised to love any other school, like Carolina for example, I’d probably have turned out to be an even bigger douche than I already am.

    She laughed, but still doesn’t get it.

    NC State is family to me. And that’s not an exaggeration.
