Wolfpack wins! Baseball team is Omaha bound!

omaha

NC State beat Rice 5-4 in 17 innings tonight to make it back to Omaha for the first time since 1968. Tarran Senay scored on a double by Brett Williams in the top of the 17th inning. Ethan Ogburn pitched 5 scoreless innings in relief for the biggest win for the Pack in 45 years.

No doubt more to come.

State will play the winner of tomorrow night’s decisive Game 3 between North Carolina and South Carolina. FYI…it is on at 7 PM on ESPN2 if you have any viewing interest.

I am so excited that we have reached the college world seried….The final four of NCAA baseball.

Now the guys have to get back to earth and focus on the business of playing their game to beat teams they havent faced this season.

Lets hope they dont go into Omaha all starry eyed and forget how they played to get here.

Such great news for the entire athletic department and Wolfpack Nation.

Crazy game. Good thing it wasn’t another one of those 18-inning ones. I fell asleep before it started and when I got up in the morning, it was the bottom of the 17th (of course if I’d known it’d still be on, I would’ve gotten up a little earlier). Kudos to those who stayed for the whole game; they were greatly rewarded. Exciting stuff!

It was really tough following the game on Twitter, which I was reduced too after the 10th. Worth it though.

    Congrats Wolfpack!

PackerInRussia- I was in the same boat. Am in Germany for work and made myself go to sleep at the rain delay. Luckily, I woke up and was able to continue following via twitter at the bottom of the 16th.

What an awesome accomplishment for this team! I couldn’t be more proud to have graduated from such a great place!! Keep it up, boys and focus on the task at hand!! Go Pack!!!

Just finished watching the last few innings on repeat, which I will regret in about 4 hours. Worth it, totally worth it!

Congratulations to the team and staff!

There are days when it is a lot of fun to be an NC State fan. Yesterday was one of those days. Hopefully several more are in the wings this coming week.

    Not this people!

I told my son going to the bottom of the 17th that it wouldn’t be easy. What a game. Fantastic performance by Ogburn.

Way to go guys! Fighting through adversity is what makes champions. What a team this is! Absolutely friggin’ awesome!

I turned back to the game just a play was resumed. Like the game with UNX some interesting baseball. Once again we have a cardiac pack. On to Omaha!

Good stuff. Didn’t have near the time to watch that marathon yesterday/this morning but will definitely watch the Omaha action. Well done.

Wow-this refusal to accept the status quo is A LOT of fun…go Pack (and Cocks)!

  15. Alpha Wolf 06/10/2013 at 8:04 AM #

This is a status-quo I could get used to accepting — especially if the men’s hoops and football team started matching this kind of success.

Congrats Pack. Nerve-racking two games but fun to watch.

Great job Pack! This is a well deserved reward for a hard working team. The way the game played out last night I had resigned myself to a third game. The number of line-out double plays were mind boggling. Just didn’t think lady luck would be on our side. Fortunately the Pack went out after the rain day and took it.

Laying in bed after the 13th was tough… thank god for twitter

    Lets go… USC???

I was finishing up dinner for the fam, so I paused the game in the seventh. I didn’t see any twitter updates on my phone so I assumed the worst. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. Not pretty, but they won.

Dragging this morning. Cardiac Pack for sure. Never say die attitude. Gotta love what these guys have done. Go PACK!

  21. blpack 06/10/2013 at 9:03 AM #

Been waiting 45 years and the Pack made us all wait through 17 innings, but it is so worth it. Great day for the baseball program. Great day to be a Wolfpacker! Wolfpack = CWS!

Any idea when we’ll play next weekend OR when the NCAA will announce this?

  23. 4in12 06/10/2013 at 9:20 AM #

Watched the DVR’ed season finale of Game Of Thrones during the rain delay and then watched my Pack win. Not a bad night of TV.

Now I just have to figure out whether to pull for Carolina or UNC-Chapel Hill.

The NCAA has us penciled in at 3:00 Saturday but I assume that is subject to change.
