Pack Tops Deacs, 81-66

Wolfpack Basketball kept things rolling toward the post-season tonight as they dispatched Wake Forest 81-66 in Raleigh on Senior Night.  The win moves the Pack to 22-8 (11-6) for the season.

Elsewhere, Carolina beat UMd in Chapel Hill (thanks a lot Terps…really gonna miss ya next year).

And in a game that just went final, GT rolled into South Beach tonight and upset Miami on a last second tip in, 71-69.

UVa faces FSU tomorrow night in Tallahassee.

was under the impression Terps don’t leave conference till July 2014 (need verification – wikipedia cites an espn article) so they will be competing in the ACC in basketball again next season.

Damn Cap, now ya just made me sad.

Will have to do some checking on that.

Leslie wasn’t just Calvin tonight…..he was Uber Calvin! Beautiful to behold. Please Gawd…..please may he continue to grace us with his almighty self for the next 10 games.

With legal problems pending over the ACC buyout clause, Maryland hasn’t gone ANYWHERE yet conference-wise, and after tonight’s performance, they aren’t going anywhere on Selection Sunday, either.

With GT’s win over Miami, they just might have saved Gregory’s job and got themselves on the NIT bubble.

I believe that the ACC will get 5 teams to the Dance, if UVA doesn’t lose the rest of their games this season. I believe the Cavs will win tomorrow night and vs Maryland this weekend, keeping State 5th. That will mean playing VT again, which I don’t think is a good draw for the Wolfpack.

Saturday afternoon’s game in Tallahassee will not be nearly as easy as the GT and WF games were. I still believe there’s one more WTF game lurking out there somewhere. That’s just the way it is for us Pack fans.

Let’s not trash the Terps too severely. We need them on Sunday… maybe. Go ‘Noles!

So GT beat Miami, and #s 13 OKSt, 16 StL and 23 UCLA bite the dust as well. The guys just need to keep their heads down and keep playing, their stock is rising with every game. I’d love a rematch with Miami, but I’ll refrain from looking too far ahead.

Oh, and ESPN finally has State as a lock.

    3 down. 10 to go.

I was a bit worried the first five or six minutes. We came out slower with some cold shooting than I thought we would but the team got it going and played well the rest of the way. Now just take care of business at FSU and get ready for the tourney.

Considering we play Maryland on November 30, 2013 I’d say it’s safe to assume they aren’t leaving the conference after this year.

Typical NCStateShit says that State will win out and still get the 5 seed. That’s why EVERY game is important, even against the crappy teams.

Don’t know where you get your info, 61. Brian Gregory’s job was not on the line. This is only his second year following Hewitt. Hewitt was awful. Tech has some good young talent, and they’ve played much better this year.

Read somewhere that if Gott beats FSU, he gets a $750k bonus for winning 12. You can bet your behind he will be motivated to beat the Noles!

    ^ $750k bonus for winning 12?

That doesn’t sound legit. $750K for winning 12 ACC games? Maybe for an ACC tournament championship, or a Final Four — but for 5th place in the ACC standings – which 12-6 may be? Naah.

    C. Leslie 19 Pts, 10 Reb, 4 Ast, 1 Stl, 4 Blk, ZERO TO’s

That’s the guy that can take us a long way in the tourney. Of course it was against Wake…

“Under the terms of Gottfried’s contract, reworked after his first Wolfpack team reached the Sweet 16 last March, a 12-win ACC season is worth two months of Gottfried’s base salary ($750,000).”

    http://blogs.newsobserver.com/category/tags/Mark-Gottfrieds-contract

That might be where Wulfpack heard it, but it seems bogus to me too, especially considering 750K is NOT 2 months salary for Gott.

  16. redcanine 03/07/2013 at 8:44 AM #

    ^16% of $750K = $125K

If his base contract IS 750K, then 16% is roughly two months pay.
That makes it a little more reasonable, no?
