NCSU Earns a 8 Seed, And Will Face Temple In The East Regional

The NC State Wolfpack has earned an 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face Temple in Dayton Ohio in the East Regional.  Should State defeat the Owls, they’ll almost certainly face regional top-seed Indiana.  The Hoosiers will face the winner of the James Madison/LIU game.

Louisville is the overall first seed in the tournament, with a 29-5 record playing in the Midwest Bracket in Lexington. They’ll play the winner of the NC A&T/Liberty winner in their first round game.

Kansas is a #1 in the South.  The Big 12 Champions are 29-5 and will face Western Kentucky in Kansas City.

Duke is a #2 seed, and will play #15 Albany in Philadelphia on Friday. They could matchup with Michigan State in the Sweet 16, something that Seth Davis of CBS calls a bad matchup for Duke.

UNC is a #8 seed and could potentially meet Kansas in the Round of 32.  They’ll have to beat Villanova first, and that is going to be a tough opening round matchup for the Tar Heels.  Should they advance, they could see their old friend Larry Drew II and UCLA.  Drew, a much derided Tar Heel, transferred to the Bruins squad and has prospered.

Stay tuned for more.

Damn tough draw. If we make it past Temple there is absolutely no way we make it past the Hoosiers the way we play defense.

Hoping for a 7, #8 is fair…sets up a really tough one against IU (who also did not make their conference final) IF we get past Temple. u*nx with a tough draw in the next round if they win the first against Nova:KU in KC.

I actually like this draw. We were going to be an 8-9 seed, and if we had to be, then Indiana is the #1 I wanted to face. They don’t play great defense, which makes them a whole lot more vulnerable than a team like Louisville. I certainly wouldn’t favor us, but I think we can hang with them.

Poor Kansas, that South bracket is absolutely crazy. All of the upper seeds are really dangerous and capable of pulling off an upset. Florida and Michigan are both better than their seed, and VCU is maybe the most dangerous team in the tournament with the style they play. It’s going to be an absolute dogfight to get out of that region

This match-up would be better if John Chaney were still coaching Temple: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Chaney_(basketball,_born_1932)#Controversy
I could totally see Big Rich w/a game-winning jam, followed by Chaney trying to punch him Woody Hayes style.

    Good times,it’d be.

We can be as good as anyone in the country for 2 games in 3 days.
