Pack v. Terps

Carolina is our most-hated rival, sure. But for the past decade, Maryland has been our bugaboo. Somewhere out there SFN member Codebrown is crouched in a corner, quivering at the very thought of having to watch this game.

A few notes:

*Maryland is the only undefeated ACC team in conference play. ACC! ACC! ACC!

*In his sixth season, TOB is still looking for his first Atlantic road win. That is not a misprint.

*We’ve won in College Park only once since 1998, way back in 2004. It’s a close second to Winston-Salem.

*Maryland installed artificial field turf before the season, so will there be any speed advantage for them against our secondary? Oddly and inexplicably, Jimbo Fisher never challenged us down field, where Tennessee and Miami both had enormous success against us. Will Maryland try to mimic a gameplan that has worked?

*We control our own destiny in the Atlantic. In fact, we’re in the exact same situation as we were in 2010 after losing to Virginia Tech and then beating Florida State.

*We had to beat Florida State to win the Atlantic, but the loss to Miami does matter because it doesn’t leave any room for error the rest of the way. Another loss essentially ends our hopes of playing in Charlotte December 1.

*Did we finally break through against Maryland with last year’s big comeback? We’ll see.

Packforesty in all my years watching football I’ve never seen a team knock out the other one’s first string QB and then the backup come in with a different style of play and “nothing to lose” mentality that just “lights” up the defense. I also have never seen a defense that knocks out a 1st string QB “let up” thinking they have the game one since the 2nd string backup has to play….

Oh wait .. I have seen that but apparently with NC State it is not allowed to happen. They should be perfect or every coach on the staff “sucks” ….

ancsu87, remember the game a few years back when we went to UCF and the same thing happened? We nearly lost to a scat back QB that came in with fresh legs. It seems we can make any backup QB look good. As long as we win though I dont care too much.
