Miami 44, State 37

State Miami beat State 44-37 in a game that will long live in infamy in the Hall of Fame of all-time worst performances.

Short version: Despite outgaining Miami 664-651, State’s defense couldn’t stop the big play — Amerson was responsible for all six Miami TDs — and State’s offense gave the ball away six times, including a fumble by Palmer on the Miami one yard line. The crucial turnover was Glennon’s pick with 48 seconds left that set up the subsequent 62-yard TD game-winning TD pass with only 19 seconds left.

More to come…maybe.

I’m not expecting miracles or an “SEC” type coach. Just one that is hungry to make us better than we are now. One that top recruits are interested in playing for (yes TOB is a good person and mentor for these kids. However that doesn’t mean kids are excited to play for him) and can see be excited about the program.

The enthusiasm in this program left a good while back. That doesn’t mean TOB doesn’t try or the players don’t give their all. Is it just me or does our team always seem to be somewhat calm? I don’t know what it is exactly but something is not working. It’s like we are always in slow motion and a step behind! I mean it is obvious Glennon is much better in the NO Huddle “O” but yet no one wants to push the set up full time. I do think if TOB would have dumped Archer and Bible to a more up tempo style we would be a little better. Not to bitch at TOB but I have never seen a coach be so determined to stick to the game plan. It is like he is the old ball coach from back in the day who runs the ball 3 times in a row up the gut just cause he can.

We need some freaking life on the sidelines! It’s like watching paint dry.

Miami’s QB threw for an ACC record 566 yards. Good work, Pack. And our secondary was supposed to be our strength. LMFAO.

I heard the coach on the radio after the game. Lack of discipline, and after that, they will learn some this week, or they won’t play. I have not been a big fan of TOB, but I put this one on the players, and the mental mistakes, as I know they were taught better. Guess we will all see what happens in the FSU game, and that is where I will judge the coach.

I swear to God I have never watched a player play and said “he’s on the take” until today. I simply cannot explain Amerson’s performance any other way…

Since I attended State as a freshman in 1968, I have never seen us play so terrible! All phases of our game made terrible decisions, both the players on the and the coaches.I have never been so disappointed. If we don’t improve the “holes” will put an end to our streak.

all of the morons stating we couldn’t pressure the quarterback……first of all not a horrible effort when we dialed it up on the defensive line, David Ammerson….wow, let’s call it like it is, I have never, in 34 years ever seen worse pass coverage in my life. That last pass absolutely looked like he list it go on purpose.

    here’s the problem……

WE KEEP BUYING TICKETS AND GOING TO THE GAMES!!

3 stars looking like 1 star players. And shit!!!! our offense looked half way decent aside from the 457 turnovers.

I am embarrassed, can’t wait to see what a real team does against us next week.

South Florida is staying with FSU middle of the 3rd quarter. Still believe the Noles will hang 50 plus on us next week as weak as our pass defense has played in the Tenn. and Miami games.

just everybody take a chill pill. The cure for what ails you is coming and the last thing you will be thinking about is football. Something truly spectacular is occurring and my expectations for this year are through the roof. See you Oct 12th in the PNC arena.

“Lotof blame and Kudos to go around. Free safety had a bad game also. On the road at Miami and had a chance to win. Congrats to team even though we came up short. Despite the errors they never gave up, played the whole game, and came close to winning. We keep improving week to week, we can go places. I think we cut out the mental errors we got a shot at upsetting FSU at home! We got called for lots of defensive offsides but there was a lot of movement on the offensive line, was I the only noticing a Miami lineman kept moving his arm right before the snap, no call on him the entire game?”

    ^Drinking is not the answer.

It wouldn’t shock me to play FSU close. We won’t win. TOB and his staff have conclusively proven that they are not able to take this program to the next level. Any argument to the contrary is not grounded in reality.

And BS to anyone who says we can’t do better than TOB. You might as well go pull for carolina with that kind of defeatist attitude.

And there were definitely some shenanigans going on in this game. Whether it’ll ever be proved or not is another story.

And Joe Blovies, you suck too. Idiot.

Wolfpackers, remember its only Sept, and we are notorious for starting slow under TOB. I hate losing and losing today that way was worse than getting blown out, but we turned the ball over 6 times and and an ungodly amount of penalties and still had the ball with 1 min to go in the game and was tied. If we can some how find a way to beat FSU next Sat night in Raleighwood (is very possible) the schedule sets up nice with a bye week before Maryland, NC, Wake, Virginia, Clemson, and BC. Every team besides Clemson is junk, we still have a shot at 8 wins and a good bowl game, we DONT have the talent for more than 8 or 9 wins and if you follow recruiting it’s not on the way, were always going be a 7 to 9 win team and that’s Wolfpack Football. The season is too dang short to worry about this 1, we gave it to them, giftwrapped it and its over all we can do is get better support the kids and beat FSU, GoPack

Clemson has Dabo Swinney for a coach—State has Drabo O’brien. I have watched State for over 50 years and TOB ranks right at the top for the worst coach ever. After 6 years I cannot think of one positive contribution. The longer he is coach the worse our situation will become—no young kid wants to play in Drabo’s “coach them up” system. If Deb’s hands aren’t tied I believe she will can his ass no later than season’s end. If she doesn’t–you can bet the fans will howl and the support $$$$$$$$ will drop as they should.

David Amerson just got burnt again.

  13. ancsu87 09/29/2012 at 8:31 PM #

Monte Kiffin, Tom Reed, Mike O’Cain … really? They were better coaches than TOB. Are you sure you been watching NC State football for 50 years??

  14. Lumpy 09/29/2012 at 8:31 PM #

Amerson couldn’t cover someone on Willard Scott’s Birthday list. However to see us go after an equally weak secondary today was fun. Despite all the facepalm inducing turnovers, penalties, and blown coverages, it was nice to see some deep passes completed down field. Can’t wait to see TOB completely abandon it next week.

    Thoughts from today:

Our locker room is in disarray and TOB has lost control
NC State will be 0-4 ACC at the end of October.
Any decent team would beat Miami by 3 TD’s.
    ACC Coastal = CUSA East
FSU is going to embarrass us on National TV
Today was the day that ended it for TOB

    Congrats to Cutcliffe and Duke

As bad as it was, the game was still within grasp until we decided to air it out in the final minute when we should’ve just run the clock out to get to OT. All day long Miami had burned us for long-yardage plays, and OT would’ve put the game on a short field, plus we had the momentum after coming back. But it was not to be.

GT, VT and UVA showed us today how bad the ACC has gotten, and once again we’re not going to be able to take advantage of a weak league. I predicted earlier we’d finish under .500 in the ACC, and it could be well under .500.

I like TOB, but this has got to be the worst overall football staff I’ve seen here since following us in the 60s. This State team was as ready for this game today as a totally decayed tooth would’ve been for a root canal. Spare us all the agony and just pull it out; it cannot be salvaged.

My chocolate lab could beat Amerson for a td catch

  18. blpack 09/29/2012 at 9:05 PM #

Here we are again. Struggle the first half of the season and then try to salvage the second half. The league is down, with the exception of two teams, and we can’t take advantage. Bench Amerson and let’s find 22 guys who want to play next Sat. We’ll be huge underdogs anyway. And maybe a few who won’t jump offsides.

  19. vtpackfan 09/29/2012 at 9:44 PM #

What is with how long it takes our offense to call a play in? Every game for six years straight has had its moments of QBs bewildered looks toward the sideline under 2 minutes to go. F’ng spread teams in all 50 States can get 5 to 6 plays called in the time it takes us two.

And the jumping offsides-and then!!!!__not knowing they play doesn’t stop until the whistle! Does anyone even use a whistle at practice?

Yes, Amerson is definitly filthy. Yes, Brenden Bishop, #30, played arguably the worst any Wolfpack ever has (not point shaving).

  20. Wolfman 9806 09/29/2012 at 9:46 PM #

At this point Yow could bring in the Fridge. Maryland fired him after he was ACC coach of the year. He’d coach circles around our current staff!

  21. Primewolf 09/29/2012 at 9:55 PM #

Must say I used to get upset with this team. I don’t anymore. Why. Because I don’t expect much from TOB and his staff, from recruiting to schemes.

If you think this year is going to be bad, what do you think the next few years under TOB will be like. This was his best recruiting class, all red shirt seniors from his second year recruiting.

I hope we can afford his buyout and start anew. It ain’t going to get any better under TOB. He is a good man and overall has done a good job for the wolfpack. However, he has shown no flexibility or willingness to bring in better coaches and recruitings.

I will say it again, this is the ACC – not the SEC. Sure, we can get a better coach, but we can also do much worse (ie Kiffin, Reed, Amato). Getting a decent coach in the ACC is a crap shoot at best. Keep that in mind when the next coach has a few 4-8 seasons.

  23. coach13 09/29/2012 at 10:37 PM #

David “Sham”erson just paid off his bookie…

  24. coach13 09/29/2012 at 10:41 PM #

tob IS OLD…LOOKS TIRED…HIS GAMeplan is tired…top talent doesn’t want to play for him. His game plans don’t work anymore. Debbie Yow has a track record with us now she can find a coach….maybe she want do much worse than getting a younger more enthusiastic equivilant worst case?

Kiffin was not here long enough and he at least went 6-5 two out of the 3 years he was here. Don’t get me started about Amato because all I used to here was about how undiscipline we were. He was not even a head coach prior to coming here,

what sums up todays game to me is when TOB is running toward the locker room and Mike Glennon is back to pass and gets sacked. Can anyone explain? Would of been something if Glennon got hurt on that play.

    TOB MUST GO!!
