Mike Glennon Learns From Big Brother

Mike Glennon

Found this great piece, N.C. State’s Mike Glennon learns from brother’s experience at Virginia Tech, by David Teel from the Daily Press in Hampton Roads, Va. which I thought deserved its own attention:

No matter that Wilson was surrounded by superior weapons — State had no Montee Ball in the backfield — and threw for fewer yards. No matter that Glennon’s protection was spotty.

Making matters worse: With two games remaining in the regular season, the Wolfpack was 5-5, fresh off a brutal defeat at Boston College and on the verge of a fourth losing season in coach Tom O’Brien’s five years.

Glennon didn’t panic. Summoning lessons from his older brother Sean’s rocky career at Virginia Tech, he sparked an improbable, season-ending, three-game winning streak.

“I learned what it’s like being a college quarterback (from Sean),” Glennon said last week at the ACC’s preseason media gabfest. “At times, it’s great. But other times, it’s pretty tough.

Sounds like Sean helped his little brother quite a bit in coping with last year’s Russell Wilson comparisons.  Who knew that Tyrod Taylor would end up helping us one day, even if only indirectly?

I honestly believe that Mike Glennon is the kind of kid that will leave college relatively unheralded, will impress in the combines and will become part of the draft conversation, perhaps even reaching the first round.

Is he an impact QB at the next level? That’s hard to project. But could he become another QB who leaves college, sits a couple of years and becomes a solid start after 2-3 years? Absolutely. Mike could well become the next Matt Schaub.

I suspect that SFN will address this with detail but just found out that
the Buckley kid formally from Cardinal Gibbons and who earned a scholarship at Penn State has decided to transfer to the Wolfpack.
He will be able to play this season.

” Or the next Beeker from the Muppets.”

Why you doggn Glennon by comparing him to Hansbrough? He doesn’t deserve that, even in jest.
