Statistical example of ESPN’s sports coverage

Want some great blend of depth and breadth of credible, legitimate sports news and coverage in your primary sports media source?

I know this isn’t revolutionary insight for you…but, you probably need to look somewhere other than the ‘world wide leader’ – ESPN.

For support of the previous statement, you should follow this great work that DeadSpin is doing by statistically tracking Sportscenter’s coverage. Welcome to HeatCenter!

If you tuned in to SportsCenter at all last week, there was a very good chance you saw Miami Heat highlights, or ESPN personalities talking over Miami Heat highlights, or press conferences involving Miami Heat players. Nearly a fourth of all programming was devoted to the Heat. Let’s put it this way: ESPN spent more time airing Miami Heat press conferences (13 minutes) than it did talking about the NFL. This for a team that’s going to get smoked in the finals by the Spurs (who by the way, got four minutes of coverage this week). Oh, and LeBron got more mentions on SportsCenter than all the members of the Pacers combined.

This topic reminded me of an entry we ran a few years ago that would pair very nicely right here! Please take a moment and click here for a great, related read.

lush you can contine to tell everyone else they are ignorant….the lack of ability to self-relfect on one’s post and comments clearly shows. But be my guess to continue and think that the whole world except you is ignorant.

See his exit from Clevland. He did not owe them anything but how he hanlded it was an example of an asshole.

Watch NBA basketball and tell me what part of the fundamentals you see today and whether they can actually dribble by the rules or establish position or a pivot foot.

    “See his exit from Clevland.”

If that’s all you got, that’s pretty weak. He’s also apologized for the way it was handled many times. He’s never been in trouble with the law. He’s unselfish on the floor and plays excellent defense. He’s very charitable. I just see it differently.

“Watch NBA basketball and tell me what part of the fundamentals you see today and whether they can actually dribble by the rules or establish position or a pivot foot.”

Now that is a fair gripe that I think many people have. However, I am somehow able to look past it as I enjoy watching the world’s best athletes go up and down the floor. It’s just entertainment to me, not a sermon for how the game is supposed be played. Go to Europe and they have a completey different style. Fine. Last night’s OKC/Spurs game was a great example. So many great plays made. Durant was unstoppable late. Durant was able to dribble, establish a pivot foot, and do a hell of a lot more than that.

I apologize if you do not know the definition of ignorant. This “it your happy watching LeBron James display nothing but the ability to walk, palm, and be an asshole then be my guest.”

    Is ignorant.

    My post was condescending. Condolences.

Those are two opinions. Your post was written just like you are … as a condescending asshole.

you don’t know what an opinion is either?

last night lebron scored 45 points, had 15 rebounds, and 5 assists. the only other player in history to do that in the playoffs is wilt chamberlain.

further proving that your statement “it your happy watching LeBron James display nothing but the ability to walk, palm, and be an asshole then be my guest.”

    is ignorant. condolences
