Shew!! NC State downs NCAA bound Virginia

Tim Brando just tweeted

NCST should be in the NCAAs! This one should get them in.

After the Wolfpack’s win today, CBSSports.com’s front page showed the following:

CBS’ Eye on Basketball blog had this:

Heading into the ACC tournament, it looked like two wins might get it done for the Wolfpack. After their win over Virginia in the quarterfinals, have they done enough to get a bid? NC State now has at least two top-50 wins, as Texas rose into that category with its win over Iowa State. A two-game sweep of Miami (Fl.) also helps. Throw in the fact the Wolfpack are 9-5 away from home – including 4-1 on neutral courts – and one can make the case for them. On the negative side are two sub-100 losses and the 2-8 record against the top 50. An upset win over North Carolina would certainly lock up a bid, but this one might do it.

unquestionably… the best game of the year for our PACK …

Our floor attitude was solid, confident and strong from 4 min into the first half until the end against a tough ‘Hoo team…

    and we ‘finished’ well.

    Congrats to the pack!
Fun to watch (what i could see streaming the f’ing worst stream I’ve ever had from the ACCNetwork). Par for the course that an offcial ACC internet stream would suck. Great day for the Pack…on to beat UNC!

  5. wufpup76 03/09/2012 at 5:08 PM #

YES! Those wins by Miami and Texas last night now loom LARGE!!!

  6. primacyone 03/09/2012 at 5:08 PM #

Are we pulling for Miami or FSU. If Miami and Texas win, we would be 4-9 against the Top 50, correct?

Edit: Acutally Miami’s RPI will increase just simply by playing FSU, correct? So they should stay in the Top 50 even with a loss?

Kept our composure aside from the adventures in FT shooting. Very nice win. Hope we go out tomorrow and ram it down Carolina’s throat.

  8. wufpup76 03/09/2012 at 5:10 PM #

primacy, ESPN2 just showed a graphic of NCSU being 4-8 against the Top 50 RPI.

Fine with me if Miami and Texas win again tonight.

If we could hit free throws that would have been a double-digit win.

Go back to that 4-point play by Wood at the end of the first half. HUGE.

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, Watched sporadic minutes of the live online feed from ACC.com while at work, looks like you nailed it rybread, gutted this one out. GO PACK!!!!!!!

  11. wufpup76 03/09/2012 at 5:12 PM #

I hope we come out wanting to win tomorrow instead of thinking we’ve accomplished what we came for.

The tournament title is what we came for.

Way to go Pack!! Very nice win! Great to see some success come NC State’s way in a very key game. I think this has been a successful season and the team and coach have done a great job despite whatever happens tomorrow and on selection sunday.

  13. wufpup76 03/09/2012 at 5:13 PM #

John Saunders and Adrian Branch were just pumping us + Gottfried big time just now. Wonderful to hear.

  14. motorhead 03/09/2012 at 5:14 PM #

Anybody think we’d be here 13 days ago after the Clemson loss? I didn’t. Go Pack!

  15. triadwolf 03/09/2012 at 5:14 PM #

Great win and like yesterday, closer than it should have been. If they can just find a way to extend leads when the opportunities present themselves…

Free throws and not finding a way to put teams away are our main faults; if both can just get a little better they’d be a very tough out.

Alright, I’m done bitching, now I’ll enjoy this for a couple hours.

Regardless, I’m pulling for VT & Miami tonight, we match up better against those two teams if/when we make it past UNC tomorrow

  17. primacyone 03/09/2012 at 5:16 PM #

“”””primacy, ESPN2 just showed a graphic of NCSU being 4-8 against the Top 50 RPI. “”””””

    We should be Dancing then!!!!!

Heck, our RPI and SOS should increase just for playing the holes.

One more question? How did our last two coaches do in thier first year ACC Tournament??????

    YEA BOYZ!!!!!

  18. maverick_ncsu 03/09/2012 at 5:16 PM #

Do we really want Miami to win? That would give them two wins against a very good FSU team. That only makes them look better and possibly jump us. Even with our sweep of Miami, isn’t that still a possibility (of them jumping us)?

Icing on the cake: St. Bonnaventure over St. Joseph’s

  20. wolfie91 03/09/2012 at 5:17 PM #

The guys played tough as nails (minus the FT’s). Leslie is night and day from where he was last year.

  21. StandUpAndHowl 03/09/2012 at 5:17 PM #

    Free throws aren’t free, apparently.

    Go Pack! Good win.

  22. motorhead 03/09/2012 at 5:17 PM #

Hard to believe where we were a year ago, everyone laughing at us for trying to get a good coach.

  23. Six Pack 03/09/2012 at 5:17 PM #

Great win, but for goodness sake can we please not screw the pooch at the line! We’ve got to be well under 50% from the line over the last 4-5 games.

Now, let’s give a beat down to those limp wristed jackasses from Chapel Hell!

  24. JasonP 03/09/2012 at 5:17 PM #

HWSNBN and Lowe both went to the finals their first year and lost. If we get there this year, let’s win! Great game. Always nice to win a 5 on 8 game!

Agree that the ACC internet stream was BAD. Froze up right before Wood’s second free throw, which I am assuming he missed. Every time it froze and I had to refresh, I was forced to watch a fifteen second commercial for the Samsung Galaxy. I am an expert on it now.
