Former NC State linebacker, Corey Edmond, has returned ‘home’ to Raleigh to serve as the strength and conditioning coach for the NC State football program.
Edmond’s most recent job has been head of strength and conditioning at Arizona. But, his resume runs impressively much deeper as he served as assistant strength and conditioning coach at Oklahoma. and head strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee-Chattanooga from 1995-1999. (Someone want to check if that overlaps with Buddy Green’s tenure there)?
Edmond is originally from Virginia and played for Dick Sheridan at NC State from 1987-1990 before spending two years with the Houston Oilers in the NFL.
Edmond played linebacker for the Wolfpack from 1987 to 1990 and worked the past eight seasons in strength and conditioning at the University of Arizona.
Edmond replaces Todd Rice, who left the program before the bowl win after 10 years with Tom O’Brien, the last five at N.C. State.
“We are excited to welcome Corey home,†O’Brien said in a statement released by the school. “He has an impressive resume and I know he will do a great job working with our student-athletes. He will be a great addition to our staff.â€
Edmond worked at Tennessee-Chattanooga and Oklahoma, including during its 2000 BCS title season, before going to Arizona.
As a player for the Wolfpack, Edmond started at inside linebacker and played in three bowl games. He was a free agent signee with the Houston Oilers in 1991, then returned to State to finish his degree in 1993.
