Red/White Game and Amile Jefferson

You can click here for observations and conversations from yesterday’s Red & White Basketball game.

As we shared in this set-up on Friday, Amile Jefferson took his official visit this weekend along with his entire immediate family (which is a very positive sign).

Jefferson’s visit is over and we can share with you that reports from the weekend are that things went very well for the Wolfpack. No commitment was given, but some national websites are already using descriptions like “NC State has the momentum”.

As we shared on Friday, a commitment from Jefferson could propel NC State’s recruiting class into the top ranked class in the entire country (ironically surpassing current #1 Arizona and Sean Miller).

I heard some UNX fans say wait til basketball, and I let them know that there is a new sheriff in town, and don’t chalk it up in basketball. We may get a split this season. And winning both would be awesome, but right now I will settle for a split, or a competitive game in Gott’s first year.

Sounds like this visit went as good as it possibly could have. I think Amile and has family left understanding how special this group could be and how NC State is primed and ready to return to prominence. Having 10,000 on hand at the red and white game, following a big win over UNC, hopefully said a lot about the climate to win and the support of our teams around here. Lots of excitement and energy yesterday that had to leave an impact.

I wondered who those other people down by Amile, Rodney Purvis, Debbie Yow and Coach Moxley were. I was a little worried at the Red & White game because Amile sorta sat slouched over with his arms crossed a lot of the time but PackInsider said he was joking around and enjoying himself. I know Rodney Purvis had taken the SAT earlier that day so I was concerned he was mentally drained and not in the mood to charm another recruit.

Are we gonna have a better basketball season this seson, it could only get better. I just want to make it to march madness that will be a step up from last year, I know Herb wasn’t the best coach but for the most part he got us to the big show in march most of his years, sidney really didnt. I am not talking bad about Sidney at all he was a former player and a respectable coach for our program he just wasnt what we were looking for and he gave it a great effort and has since moved on to Utah Jazz as an assistant coach (i wish him nothing but the best). I have not had much time to read anything on here yet I’m new to this site and just wanted to start up a discussion, How is are program looking for basketball this year? I have read some good things from the red/white game and hope we just improve from last year.

Yesterday a UNC fan and friend congratulated on the win. I said well let me congratulate you in advance for two wins in basketball. I only half meant it. The heels are going to be tremendous short of injuries. The will start 3 top ten NBA draft players. For us, Rome was not built in a day. However, it looks like we have Caesar and he is building Rome and those smug UNC bastards better enjoy it while they can.

I just want to see that the guy can coach. He’s lined up a good recruiting class, but unless he can coach, it’s all a waste. (see Sidney)

However, we do have THREE former head coaches on the bench this year. I just HAVE to believe that they’ll do more with this team than the previous administration did.

I believe we will field a talented team this year. (I also thought we fielded a talented team last year) So the difference will be the coaching. If we end up with a better record this year, I’ll give Gott all the credit.
