A Brief History Of Shutouts and Blowouts – Part II

13-0.

Update As a follow-up to last Saturday’s entry I really wanted to keep things brief as the title says and let the score and scoreboard speak for themselves.

However I just have to add this quote from LB Audie Cole: “We talked about it. I guess we’re the farmers and they are the educated people? Whatever. Either way, we won, and the farmers will be happy going to work on Monday.”

I would gladly trade last week’s blowout and shutout for this week’s Hole goose egg. A million times over, even.

Now I can happy enjoy watching four Top Ten SEC squads face off tonight. Woooo!!!

What an awesome picture! What an awesome win! When somebody runs their mouth, shut ’em out and shut ’em up. Great win, Pack!

  3. Wulfpack 11/05/2011 at 7:33 PM #

Unreal. Great day to be a Wolfpacker!

Some fans also lowered the UNC-CH flag at the perimeter of the stands to half mast when the game was over. It was awesome.

First shut out over Heels since 1960.

  6. old13 11/05/2011 at 7:52 PM #

First shut out over Heels in Raleigh since 1921.

That game was thoroughly enjoyable. The reactions from UNC fans I know afterward have been fun too.

Who has a picture of the 4th quarter scoreboard that showed Phillip Rivers and “Graduation: it’s what State does”?

    Truly Priceless

  10. blpack 11/05/2011 at 11:28 PM #

I have always wanted to see the Pack shut out their arrogant, smug selves. Today was the day!

I think bit from a Carwhina fan on another board sums up this game nicely.

“State has played a perfect game defensively so far. They do that one game per year when we play. It’s almost supernatural how they become Alabama on defense. Next week they’ll be back to tripping over there own feet against BC. Bet they lose that game.”

Finally someone who isn’t blaming Russel for them losing to us.

Unless I’m mistaken, that ^^^ is also a billboard on I-85/I-40 just east of Mebane… brilliant…

A handy primer – updated for 2011! – of unc-ch players who will run out of eligibility before beating us…

    http://www.backingthepack.com/2011/11/6/2541572/updated-unc-ch-players-who-will-never-beat-nc-state

(Note that the list first went up a year ago… what’s bold is new for 2011… what a difference a year makes in the makeup of a team… senior-laden last year, very young this year… too bad CMFBD wasn’t around to be able to say they were young and be telling the TRUTH for once… but truth has never been his strong suit…)

Great win…I hate orange county university. The Rivers ad was a nice touch and a big ouch to orange county. I was at the game, (as I have been at all the games since 1977) and is was a beautiful atmosphere.

The only problem with the great win is that TOB will be held around for at least another year. Still the pansies lost!!! With ZERO I might add!!!

Whats the swahili word for zero?

  15. Big T 11/06/2011 at 9:31 AM #

Just looked it up….Zero in Swahili is “WITHERED”

I want to give one big shout out to all 60K of us (OK, 55K State fans) at the game because the crowd truly played a big role in that game. I cannot remmeber the last time the crowd was that loud and into the game.

I also think it was great for the UNX players to actually see what a full stadium can be like.

    Seen on FB this morning:

“Is it only one win in a row since UNC vacated last season?”

So sad for all the little Tar Heels out there.

For the first time in recent memory, this “farmer” is very glad to have to go to the office Monday morning. 🙂

Thank you, Tom O’Brien. And Audie Cole. And Terrell Manning. And David Amerson. And Earl Wolff. And Daryl Cato-Bishop. And Will Baumann. And so on and so on.

Let me tell you a little story. Years ago, another school posted a huge sign at one of their home games in Charlottesville. The sign read “CULTURE vs AGRICULTURE”. That was probably 40 years ago. And Va Tech went into UVa and blasted them. Being from the state of Virginia I was familiar with these ARROGANT SCHOOLS. But honestly, NOTHING compares to the arrogance of UNC (and Duke). Having graduated Electrical Engineering from NC State and having worked 30 years in the state of NC, I have only learned to despise UNC more each year. UVa is still just as nauseating as ever (original wine-and-cheesers) also.

Go PACK ! I do not know why it surprised me, Carolina was supposed to win (the press , mostly UNC type graduates had already given them the win as usual)). When it comes down to it, when the talent level is similar, its all about HEART and TRUST. State played a great game and as usual UNC underachieved. It is the story of UNC. Unerachievers, because in the end they are arrogant , obnoxious people who believe in their that they are somehow elite. NC State OWNS the TARHEELS !!!!

Kudos First: James Washington, Will Baumann, David Amerson, The linebackers and lines.

Nothing flashy or flukey about this win. Just lined up and rammed (pun) it down their throats.

Glad to see the Wolfpack rub Wither’s arrogant nose in it.

Glad to see Renner’s face get ground into the dirt after his “one man team” comments this week (BTW it only took half a player #8 to replace #16).

Chippy cheap shots by UNX defense in few last series is a direct reflection of their class – or non attendance to class.

Observations from directly behind the UNX bench was that their “star” players were outwardly indifferent toward the end. Some were observed dancing to the timeout music ON THE FIELD. Guess their agents had assured them not to worry as their diplomas and contracts had arrove. Gosh its obvious they sure love their school and were heart broken. Or maybe…. they were just abandoning the (flag)ship.

  22. LRM 11/06/2011 at 2:11 PM #

The Flagship’s average starting position was its own 22. That was huge.

  23. highstick 11/06/2011 at 2:42 PM #

Their flagship was running on “wind power” whereas our ship was a Nuke!

  24. Prowling Woofie 11/06/2011 at 10:59 PM #

Hey Renner – that’s the third different State QB that’s beaten your asses during THE Streak !!! So much for the “all RW comment”.

Sorry you weren’t around at the end to witness it. Way to vag out…
