anytime you watch an all star game at any level of basketball the rules are thrown out of the window.. the only purpose they serve is to showcase individual athletic ability and to promote the school/coach that landed said talent.

i think more and more today’s official/s are trying to maintain a flow of some sort to the game.. and at times call unnecessary fouls for example to maintain a level of control on what’s happening. but there’s a noticeable difference when you see a duke or unc play and i wish it weren’t true but it’s obvious!!

for so long a coach k team would be one to goon it up in the paint… starting off with getting fouls called but the foul itself would be noticeably tough.. over time that has translated into a nonfoul against duke.. but let anyone else try it and k screams bloody murder? this has also poured into unc’s game as well… they hack the sh## out of the opposing team period!

for whatever reason, the officials have this understanding i guess that unc/duke play at a higher level and anything/everything they do is different?

there are only a couple of measures i can see that can make an immediate impact: new officials, do away with conference officials or something like rewrite the rule book for dated violations?

in the ACC and probably other leagues as well, we are long overdue for a new regime of officials.. it appears that there is far too much bias in the games.

i would personally like to see an official that can call a game in any setting or conference. i think that would atleast eliminate the feeling of bias toward teams of whatever pedigree.

the game of ncaa basketball is ever changing.. i don’t know the details but i can clearly see that a change in rules could tighten the leash on the flow of the game. or maybe just how its officiated. why is it a standard practice for a carry/palm be a judgement call? what about goal tending? and more recent… WHERE IS THE IMAGINARY LINE UNDER THE BASKET THAT ELIMINATES A CHARGE/BLOCK? why in general, are the officials having to keep up with so many judgement calls in such a fast paced environment. they have a trained eye, but cmon man!!
