Sean Miller with Jim Rome – sound familiar?

Please take a few minutes to watch this entire video posted this week on ESPN of Jim Rome’s interview with Sean Miller.

Now take a moment to mentally replace the word “Arizona” with the words “North Carolina State”, reflect on that for a second, and then see what you think. The two are completely and easily interchangeable.

Miller’s statements are evidence that he is capable of recognizing a challenge, realistically assessing that challenge, accepting that challenge, and ultimately conquering that challenge.

Few would look at the state of our basketball program and fail to objectively see the challenge it presents to coaching candidates. Perhaps NC State is more removed from its glory days than Arizona two years ago, but the theme remains the same.

With Arizona playing this weekend for a Pac-10 Conference Tournament Title, congratulations should go out to Coach Miller and his staff at Arizona for turning around a once storied program recently mired in mediocrity.

Coulda woulda shoulda…. Whatever. Maybe we missed on Miller. Maybe we didn’t. But lateral move or not, money talks. $$ is awfully compelling, and it has an amazing way of tipping the scales. But whatever. Any name is all speculation at this point anyway, and there is more than just one good candidate for this job.

I don’t think Sean and family want to stay in Tuscon where they can continue to see firsthand both Mexican immigration and drug cartel warfare near the border.

Another thing that would sweeten the pot for SM in coming to Raleigh is bringing Archie aboard. I’m sure he and his wife would jump at the chance to get out of rainy Ohio. Come on Millers Raleigh is home sweet home.

I’d love to see Sean Miller here as much as anybody but I don’t see it happening. Would you rather have 3 or 4 rivalry games a year vs. Roy and K, or 2 rivalry games a year against Herbert?

Archie would need two phone books stacked atop on another to sit in the assistant coach’s chair.

I am all for Sean Miller, but might be difficult to lure him from a big time school. Again why not look at he accomplishments of Randy Bennett,of Saint Marys, with one of the top offensive teams in the nation, and not nearly as talented as we are. They won the regular season, but lost in the conference tourney, and were left out of the big dance. So it should be appealing to know if Bennett were coaching here, he would have assured himself of making the dance. and certainly coach more talented players, They beat St Johns, and only lost by a few to BYU. I really think he deserves a close look at, with 9 out of 10 seasons with 20+ wins, at Saint Marys.

After year 2 or 3 if we did can Sid there was a great pool of coaches available and we could have had our choice.
Instead of reading into things that are not there and wishfull thinking,we would be talking about our draw and how far we would go in the tournament!
    Thank’s Lee and Sid

One of the big problems with replacing NC State with Arizona are the parts where he talks about how Lute Olson is his greatest supporter and about embracing the family atmosphere that Lute created at Arizona.

Also, I have lived in Tucson and you don’t see any “mexican immigration or drug cartels” there. I’m sure the schools where his kids go are excellent private schools that would compare well with private schools here. Having lived in both, Tucson and Raleigh are both great places to live.

Sean Miller is reported to have no interest in our job. Next.

State has a few advantages with Miller, but I don’t know if he will come or not. Miller’s family are still in the state and his wife’s parents are in Pa. so they may want to get closer to their parents. And who know’s if his wife is even happy in Tuson ? And if the wife isn’t happy living in Az. he will do what he can to make her happy. But I think Yow will handle the search a HELL of a lot better than fowler did.
