Duke’s “Horizontal Academics” lands SFN on NBC’s Today Show

The story of a Duke University student’s “F*** List” a couple of weeks ago went national after a couple of prominent sports blogs got a hold of it.  If you are unfamiliar with the story &/or wanted to see our conversation on the topic I recommend that you click here.

This link will take you to an entry/article from Jezebel.com.  The link includes a couple of videos/news stories, including one from NBC’s Today Show.  When you watch the video, you will notice that the picture used to represent “message boards” on the internet comes from our very own SFN Message Forums!!   Therefore, SFN made the national news!!

I don’t care what the topic or how small our role…while NBC was researching the story they came across our conversation(s) and chose to include us.  I know it isn’t a big deal.  But, we wanted to share, nonetheless.  You can click here for the conversation when our readers figured this out.

While we are talking about the national media, you really need to see the video from Fox News a couple of weeks ago.  I’m not going to give anything away – but, regardless of your thoughts on Fox News, you will not help but be able to love you some Shep Smith after clicking here.

On a more local scale, SFN’s fantastic coverage of the UNC scandal continues to be recognized by a lot of local media (who aren’t being squelched by political pressure from UNC supporters).  Most recently, the John Locke Foundation has featured our great work on the Kendric Burney situation in some of their postings.

As a parting bonus…any real Shep Smith fans will enjoy this thread on Ole Miss’ new mascot.

Don’t sell yourself or SFN short, StateFans. That’s national recognition, and it is a big deal.

    Congratulations!

And the coverage of the UNC scandal here is unparalleled. This is the place I go FIRST to find out what’s happening with it. The local media has done a shamefully poor job of covering this scandal. They rarely ask any tough questions, even when SFN points out what SHOULD be asked. And you know the local media is coming here for information, even if they would surely never admit it.

I’m thankful for SFN, and the internet in general, for helping to bring the UNC scandal to light. If not for the internet, this story would have been buried forever. I’m convinced of that.

A year like this one calls for pork brains in eggs for everyone involved.

IMO, the unc scandal would never have reached its current level if it were not for the outstanding reporting of SFN. Thank you State Fans Nation for your part in helping to bring down the forces of evil.
