Giglio is getting more confident/bold in his questioning of Butch. I think that means one thing…he knows something and is about to expose it. No way he goes at the chief like this if he has nothing. That would be too risky…Giglio is proving to be just what is needed right now. To quote The Big Lebowski:

sometimes there’s a man… I won’t say a hero, ’cause, what’s a hero? But sometimes, there’s a man. And I’m talkin’ about (JP Giglio) here. Sometimes, there’s a man, well, he’s the man for (t)his time and place.

I listened to a small amount of Taylor Zarzour this AM whilst I was driving around doing errands. It was HYSTERICAL listening to the UNC fans calling in with their twisted logic about how they thought Butchie should stay and how JP Giglio was a bad guy for actually doing his job. These people have never had their “we’re-better-than-everyone-else” credentials challenged, and when someone does challenge them, they get their panties in a serious wad.

Fortunately, a Dook fan did make a perfect comment about how the mess was made by Butchie, and he has only himself to blame and how JPG was just doing his job. However, the radio station didn’t give the Duke fan much time.

I did not have sexual relations with that woman…piss poor reporting by Giglio, he should have been more precise with his questioning…Were you aware that he has had unrestricted access to your facilities and athletes in the past? Did you ever see him in your facilities?

  5. LifeLongWolf 09/17/2010 at 12:33 PM #

    Good point, JPack

The expressions on BD’s face during that segment never get old. Too classic.

  7. Scooter 09/17/2010 at 1:22 PM #

@jpack — He sounded like he was headed that direction until Chief cut him off by referring him to Baddour. There’s no way Chief would answer any of those questions anyway, at least not to local media.

I thought that Butch still had a few staffers that were hold-overs from the Bunting era? Am I wrong about this? If this is the case, then someone should’ve known Hawkins. If he was with Parker, that’s surprising, seeing as how Willie Parker never even recognized UNC as his school during NFL game introductions. Besides, he has a SB ring. You don’t think that the staffers know Parker?

Doesn’t matter. Butch doesn’t know anything. He actually spent the large majority of the past three years sitting in a dark, silent room (maybe a closet), trying not to see or hear anything at all. Hell, he still doesn’t know anything, according to his interview with Giglio. He isn’t aware of anything that’s going on. Baddour and Thorpe give him a periodic, need-to-know briefing, “sometimes during a phone call during dinner.” The players are learning more about this through their friends and family, than the coaches are telling them. So, the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ methodology continues.

At least Baddour will tell an interviewer that he knows the answer, but just can’t say the answer. Still, he doesn’t know much. (That last statement is more of a generalized opinion.)

Butch, you mentioned “big holes” that you have…I sincerely think you are the “Big Hole”!!!

He’s starting to sound like Sergeant Klink….i.e. “I know nothinggggggg!!”

look at his body language in the first min or so of the interview, he looks like it is on crack cocaine, no? head bobing turning…etc obviously uncomfortable, and possibly anticipating a tough question. he also looked luke utter hell…

  11. eas 09/17/2010 at 2:20 PM #

Funny, he finally said he is “no longer in our facility” but didn’t realize he answered JP’s question of “has he ever been in your facility”.

You know he wanted to punch JP. Hilarious

JPPack, might I suggest you start your own blog on NC State sports if you feel so strongly about things? Heaven forbid you have to scroll. Such exercise for those fingers after a night of making the wolf hand signal is far too strenuous.

I’d like to emphasize that I appreciate the focus SFN has put on game related articles AND UNC scandal related coverage the last couple days. It was very convenient to get my game appetite taken care of over lunch, and then eat some popcorn and read about UNC.

  14. tractor57 09/17/2010 at 2:41 PM #

Obviously he was uncomfortable and I sure expected “that’s all I’ll say” on the subject. As eas mentions “no longer in our facility” speaks volumes.

  15. choppack1 09/17/2010 at 2:41 PM #

Wow. Just one person had the guts to question him about the “review”.

  16. GAWolf 09/17/2010 at 2:51 PM #

I wonder if all the other reporters were sitting in the room with their hands over their lips looking at JG in dismay…

  17. imawolf 09/17/2010 at 2:53 PM #

REALITY,,,,, the Athletic Director and the Football coach should MAN UP, and submit their resignations……… This is pitiful……

Folks there is your answer. Butch acts like a stupid man sometimes when someone puts a mike in his face.

What are the symptoms of Tourette’s syndrome?

  20. Alpha Wolf 09/17/2010 at 3:55 PM #

^ It’s not Tourette’s, it is pathological lying.

Kudos to Giglio for having the balls to press Davis’s repeated deflections of his direct questions. Davis may be a slick operator, but it really seems clear that he knows more than he is saying, and the his is not at all telling the truth.

  21. rky 09/17/2010 at 4:14 PM #

Too bad he is not as suave in front of the press as our former AD.

Hunter must be with a goat in a boat or in the rain on a train.

  23. TENN Packfan 09/17/2010 at 4:27 PM #

I wonder if he acted as agitated and responded as transparently to NCAA investigators questions?

I’m reminded of some of the lyrics from “Pinball Wizard” by The Who:

    “He ain’t got no distractions
Can’t hear those buzzers and bells
    Don’t see lights a flashin’
    Plays by sense of smell
    Always gets a replay
    Never tilts at all
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
    Sure plays a mean pinball”
