Russell Wilson Will Play Football in 2010

NC State’s starting quarterback will play football in 2010.

Tom O’Brien, the Wolfpack’s head coach made the announcement today after football practice when he said bluntly, “write it down: [Wilson is] coming back.”

So let it be written.  Wilson, a two year starter, was thought to have played his final football season for the Wolfpack in 2009, and was expected to enter the upcoming Baseball Entry Draft later this year.  When he came to NC State, Wilson was thought a can’t-miss prospect as a baseball player, but in a Wolfpack uniform, he has yet to live up to the lofty expectations that many — including major league scouts — had for him.

Instead, Wilson was an unexpected All-ACC performer his freshman year, and last season, he continued his good play by completing 31 touchdown passes.  Along the way, he also set the NCAA record for consecutive pass attempts without an interception. On September 19, 2009, Wilson broke Andre Woodson’s all-time NCAA record of 325 consecutive pass attempts without an interception against Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs. The 389-pass streak ended in a game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

During this season’s spring practice, Wilson has been absent, focusing on playing for the Wolfpack baseball team.  In his place, reserve Mike Glennon has taken the snaps with the Wolfpack team and has, according to several sources, performed admirably.

i feel for glennon too – but if TOB is at all fair, glennon is getting his chance now. glennon is getting all the practice time, let him prove himself!

like i said above, if TOB is a fair man then if glennon is doing better in practice than RW, glennon will start.

Wulfpack, you feel we are wasting a major talent by not playing Glennon? Do you suggest we put RW on the bench? RW was the ACC Off POY his freshman year and had an incredible soph year. This makes absolutely no sense. Glennon will get his shot in time.
