I’m done complaining. It is really sad watching this. On the night David Thompson is recognized, the team plays a great first half and then comes out after half time and can’t play any better than a church league team.

Both of those guys are playmakers which we have 0 of this year. Sidney did call timeouts and tried to slow things back down but we still took horrific shots

Who even gives a damn anymore; I stopped watching games weeks ago. Dead last in the ACC. I don’t care how many years you think you need to give a coach, dead last in what ‘is’ one of the best two or three conferences in America = 100% fired during the last post game press conference of the year.

Lee, I swear to God, you had better not screw this one up – here is your one shot at redemption ‘coach’.

Edit – And yes, this is the same mafpack that wanted to give Sid his full four years to get better. What this current team proves to me is that he’s a fantastic recruiter and a great front man but an absolutely horrible coach. Fundamentals, we don’t have um, motivation, what’s that anyway? Solid defensive and offensive systems that work… yeah, right. We don’t even have a standard in bounds play, much less a basic setup quick 3 from the sidelines. I just don’t care anymore, give me football, at least then I enjoy watching even if we lose.

This game was lost at the 14 minute mark of the second half when a lineup consisting of Painter, Mays, Williams, Horner, and Davis was on the floor for extended minutes. It totally bogged down the offense(as expected) gave MD energy and destroyed any rhythmn we had the first couple minutes after the half. Even when the lead shrank to six you knew it was over for the simple fact we couldn’t even start our offense and MD made a few in transition off of our stupid play. Coaching lost us this game.

    Wassup Fellow Wolfpackers!
This is my first post but I have been reading this site for quite some time now.
I’m a die-hard Wolfpacker and I can certainly identify with the frustration that we all feel. That being said I simply want to say it’s easy for us to want to cut our losses and start over. But that’s just it – we’ll always be starting over. If the next coach comes in and doesn’t take us to the tourney then what? I know, I know – we have been patient. Just so you know yes I’m a part of the family – my daughter attended State as well as two nieces and a nephew. I’ve loved ’em for years now and have defended them vehemently – even when I knew I was on the losing end of the arguement. The barbershop can be brutal for us right now.
But if a developer builds a foundation and quits and builds another foundation then he will never finish a development.
I think that’s our mentality. We want it all now. I say let’s quit crying about where we are and let’s support this coach and this team. We’ll be winners again – I promise you.

I take it all back, I just read the live blog transcript and I swear, I haven’t laughed that hard in months! Freak’n hilarious! I’ll definitely be logging on for the next game, just to join the live blog and smile, lol!

fmack – To take your thought further. If a developer spends four years building one government building that continually falls woefully short of it’s intended purpose (to hold people) and instead people fall through the floors, down broken stairs, step in to elevator shafts missing their elevators, get electrocuted trying to turn on a light switch and end up sauteed by that super cool spinning front door – don’t you think it’s time THEN for someone with oversight authority to step in, condemn the building, knock it down and demand that a new developer be brought in to undertake the project again?

Everyone please. Let’s stop complaining. We’ll be MUCH better next year and finish no worse than 9th place!

C’mon, there is a lot to be positive about!

  10. Wolfpack05 02/17/2010 at 11:33 PM #

its kinda hard to be positive about next year when we have been saying that for the last 20

  11. fmack 02/17/2010 at 11:40 PM #

mafpack – I guess you can look at it that way. I completely understand your frustration – remember I’m in this thing with you. Here’s the thing I just think we play “punk” ball and that’s what gets me. No one seems to really want to be aggressive. We are waaaay to accomodating of the other teams especially when they come into our house. That’s where I’m disappointed. If a team beats you make sure they leave bruised and battered – not literally but you know what I’m saying. Make sure they leave completely spent and not wanting to see this team again. We need to be tenacious defenders and absolute offensive beasts. Show some moxey. Now I know that this attitude will have to come as a result of coaching. But it has to be hard for El-Sid as some of you have called him when he shows some emotion he’s criticized and when he doesn’t he’s labeled as not emotional enough.
Well in any case I think we should strengthen what we have because I’m tired of seeing us start over just to come to this same point.

If we continue to start over and over again, it might be 20 more years of this. Now that is a sad thought.

I was there, up in the corner behind the State bench. It’s no secret that turnovers are what kill us, and again we fumbled this one away. A classic example came in the first half when one of our players, Mays I believe, was trapped on the sideline in front of our bench and had to call time. On the ensuing throw-in, we threw it to the SAME EXACT SPOT.

Horner played well tonight, I thought it was one of his best efforts. But for everybody else, it was business as usual. As I said earlier, it would be a Greivus performance for Maryland and a grievous performance for the Wolfpack. The second half for State may have been even worse than that.

StateofthePack is right in pegging when this game ended. It was over when State scored its 51st point. There were swarms of people in the lower level leaving at just under the 4-minute mark. It didn’t take them any longer to realize that this was a lost cause. Why can’t NCSU officials realize the same thing at just under the 4-year mark?

Because they’re just plain STUPID, that’s why.

All I want to know is where is Herb Sendeck? Prior to 4 years ago I entered every game with the expectation that we would win! We didn’t always win but I do ennoy winning as would most state fans. I remember when NCSU had a wining record in the ACC and we went to the tournament every year. I just hope that we have not taken a step backwards because being a contender is better than a pretender.

    STANDARD.

Of note, a brief “Fire Fowler” chant originated from the student section when Fowler was walking off the court after the halftime ceremony honoring David Thompson and Lorenzo Charles.

” … was trapped on the sideline in front of our bench and had to call time. On the ensuing throw-in, we threw it to the SAME EXACT SPOT.”

^Mays threw it in on each play. I couldn’t believe he did the exact same thing twice in a row, once after a timeout.

UMd called a timeout at 9:32 of the second half after Dennis hit a 3 and extended the lead back out to 6 points. Six game minutes later, we scored again on a Mays free throw. Awesome.

5434 people short of a full house? I know what it looked like on TV and it looked empty.

We’ve only had about 12 years in the RBC center. That is not enough time to start competing with every other team in the conference.
