Quick Video: ACC Preview

Kind of sad when the guy that used to cover NC State for Pack Pride says that he was just on Tobacco Road and got to see UNC play and Duke and Wake practice. (cough, cough) Then again, this may be the first time in the history of a Jeff Goodman story that he mentions NC State without mentioning Herb Sendek. (Click here for a link that you will enjoy)

I can fully understand why an impartial observer wouldn’t mention us except to say we are fighting not to finish last. You have to earn the respect it takes to be mentioned in this conference…we haven’t shown much to warrant it.

Did you read the entry? The whole point is that Jeff Goodman isn’t an impartial observer.

^^He used to report NC State for Pack Pride…he doesn’t anymore. Even when he did that doesn’t mean he has any type of allegiance to us. I think the point was he used to cover us, he was in the area, he’s a college basketball sports writer and it never crossed his mind to check in on us.

Read some his work…he is no way partial to NC State.

I guess he got a promotion… at least Wolfpack sports was good for someone…

While I find it very sad that we would not be mentioned in any discussion of “Tobacco Road”, I have to admit that I understand why. With little exception we are an afterthought, both within the conference and nationally. The same way that you don’t initially think of Northwestern or Vandy when talking about relevant programs in the Big Ten or SEC respectively, other than us, the long suffering alumni and fans, no one else thinks of NCSU when talking about the ACC.

Its been this way for a while now, and while we did make some noise in football for Amato’s first few years (read: while PR was here), that quickly faded. Winning cures all, however, and if Sid or TOB can get things going in the right direction it would not take long to become relevant in the conference and national conversation again.

But until we start beating people consistently, don’t expect previews such as this to mention us; or if they do, don’t expect it to be flattering.
