At least it is not trimmed in preppy argyle.

  2. Noah 08/27/2009 at 8:20 AM #

    Wow. Those are horrid.

  3. DRW 08/27/2009 at 8:39 AM #

Horrible. Is there anything that our athletic dept can’t screw up?

  4. TheAliasTroll 08/27/2009 at 8:40 AM #

I don’t know how much more of this incompetent bullshit I can take coming out of our basketball program. Is there ANY oversight of this garbage?

  5. twosocks 08/27/2009 at 8:45 AM #

take off the NC and it will look fine. and get rid of the black trim already! black is not a school color.

  6. packbackr04 08/27/2009 at 8:48 AM #

that is just terrible. do they not float sketches/samples around to get some feedback? i can not for the life of me imagine any one person on this earth looking at that and thinking they would look good. pathetic

Those uniforms suck. Just when you think the leaders in our athletics program get it the do something like this. Those uniforms smack of mid major! Ugh!

Off topic – could one of our tech savy people post a link on how to download a football schedule on my blackberry. Thanks.

  8. hai17 08/27/2009 at 9:55 AM #

cwcanady – It appears that you can download schedules off of gopack.com in either outlook or ical format. You can then import these into outlook or another calendar format (I use google calendar) and sync that with your blackberry. You’ll likely have to play around with the blackberry to get it to work out, but for google calendars they have a nifty little sync application you can download to your blackberry that handles everything for you.

The new uniforms are atrocious by the way. It’s really no surprise, though, that NCSU will find a way to half-ass what should be a simple operation…

This sucks. Either say State or NC State like it was. Like others are saying, it’s as if the “NC” above was an afterthought. Bad team. Bad jersey.

I can’t believe I am going to fork over $1K to watch this travesty of a program again.

I don’t think this makes any statement about the basketball program at large. I think when people say that, they’re making a bit of a mountain out of a mole hill. The team can wear polka dots as long as they win and represent the university well.

Having said that, these uniforms are truly ugly. When I first saw the pictures yesterday, I thought I’d sit on it and think if I was just being resistant to change. I’m not — they’re bad.

I would echo the other posters here. We have a top notch design school. The uniforms that would come out of there would be fantastic. I’m not sure why EVERY sports team doesn’t leverage them. It’d be a great exercise for the design students (taking requirements from a customer, producing levels of design iteratively, do a design selection process, look into how the design differences might drive manufacturing cost) that IMHO would be a great marketing element for the design school. I also think it’d be great for the sports teams (they’d get good, fresh looks that would resonate with recruits) and would make things much easier with respect to alumni acceptance. The design school could work with one sports team a semester and just rotate through the various sports.

Same design as the Lakers uniforms. Could stand to lose the NC maybe.

No big deal either way. Just win……………..

    Michigan State uses just “State:”

I disagree. I do not think the team can wear polka dots, even if they are winning. If that’s the case why even have uniforms? The uniforms are a representation of the school.

And as for this uniform, it’s like they went out of their way to ‘eF this one up.

Maybe we should make them baby blue so we will not get any fouls called on us.

These unis could be a lot worse- our football unis are hideous to me- I miss the PR-era jerseys.

I honestly don’t think they’re THAT bad, though the NC needs to go.

    or go

    NC
    number
    State

like how schools like BYU do it.

  17. CStanley 08/27/2009 at 11:31 AM #

We’ll be complaining about a lot more than just uniforms come February.

  18. bradleyb123 08/27/2009 at 11:41 AM #

I don’t like the “NC” on the uniform at all, because it’s like we’re conceding that when people see “State”, they won’t know WHICH State it is. So we have to tell them “NC”.

I know we’ve been horrid for a very long time in basketball. But I think all we need is “State”.

the number 1 textiles program in the WORLD, and one of the top 25 design schools in the country. . . you’d think they would at least seek a smidgen of advice from at least one of these two entities before they unveiled this mess??

  20. BJD95 08/27/2009 at 11:53 AM #

At the end of the day, bush league, Family Dollar-looking uniforms are kind of appropriate for the kind of basketball program we have. Right?

  21. tjfoose1 08/27/2009 at 1:01 PM #

    horrid

Just when you think Wolfpack men’s basketball can’t get any worse, it does.

Why can’t we just be “State” again like we were when we actually had a good basketball program? The change to “NC State” sometime shortly after 1983 has defined us as the “other” NC, the one which isn’t good.

If we MUST have NC on the jersey, then put it in 8X10 block letters so even those in the upper deck end zone can read it at home games. Wouldn’t want anyone to forget who we are, right?

Who is responsible for this proposal? Is it a done deal? Don’t the fans who pay to watch this have any say-so?

Its funny that you say that. My wife could be called a casual fan at best. And she certainly is not interested in the in-depth “behind the scenes knowledge” so to speak, such as the general ineptitude of many things NC State and the ongoing issues regarding Fowler, Sid, etc. After showing her the picture of the new unis today she said to me, and I quote: “My God, that’s terrible!”

Then, after informing her that so far I hadn’t found a single person who liked them, she said “Whats the matter with them (referring to the people running the athletics/basketball program)? Shouldn’t they show these to some of the fans and get some feedback before committing to something like this? Don’t they care what the fans think? It would be easy to post the pictures of prospective designs on the msg boards and find out people’s reactions.”

All I could do was shake my head and say that I didn’t know why they don’t do that, but knowing what I know of the athletics dept. and the university in general, it probably IS mostly because they don’t really care what the fans think, not to mention that it makes too much sense.
