Russell Wilson Wins ACC Rookie of the Year

More post-season accolades for NC State’s freshman quarterback came out today.

Russell Wilson Named ACC Rookie of the Year

Russell Wilson officially found out today what most people already knew, that he was the ACC rookie of the year.  Wilson is also the offensive rookie of the year and the voting was not even close.  The Wolfpack quarterback recieved 62 out of a possible 67 votes in both races.  This marks the first time the Wolfpack have taken the rookie of the year since T.A. McClendon in 2002.

Congratulations, Russell!

Paul Johnson of Georgia Tech also received Coach of the Year honors, which is well deserved. Tom O’Brien received a single vote in that tally.

This may be a stupid question, but why is the picture of D. Evans?

More importantly…CONGRATULATIONS RUSSELL!! If it had been anyone else, I would have seriously questioned the intelligence of those responsible for the voting.

    Is that Daniel Evans?

Russell Wilson wins the award and Daniel Evans gets his picture put up?

I’d say that’s something GoPack.com would do, but let’s be honest, it’ll be Friday before they post a story about it.

SFN is doing its mainstream media immitation.

Alpha Wolf is doing his posting while in a phone conference thing and blew it.

Seriously, I hate using the second tense, so I will just say it more plainly: I was trying to do too many things at once and screwed up by putting the wrong picture in the article. I fixed it as soon as I noticed it, and then read all of your kind comments. 🙂

The 5 assholes who voted for “interchangeable Hokie RB” should have their credentials revoked.

Congrats, Russell. That’s 2 honors down, 1 to go (POY).

Once again, well deserved and congratulations Russell!

Congrats to Russell as well as the O-Line and the Receivers for making this all possible. The defense and running backs. Pretty much the whole team made this possible. Good well done by the 2008 football team.

Finally, some well deserved positive press. Russell represents NC State well. What a role model.
    Congratulations!!!

Where is the picture of Evans? Did you actually post one and edit before I got back in?

Or is it the fact that the only pictures of poor Daniel we’re used to is running for his life or flat on his back?

OK…just gotcha Alpha. Was the pic of him running or ducking? Again, poor kid, think I should thank him for a couple exciting wins though. So thanks young Evans good luck to ya.

  11. Alpha Wolf 12/02/2008 at 4:23 PM #

Actually, it did look a bit like he was running.

Congratulations to RW on this and the other ACC awards he’s received!!! I also saw the interview on WRAL that he did on being the All-ACC QB – he’s a better person than a player, and that’s saying something!

As I stated before. We are worthy of greatness!! Why would TOB want to leave when he has another 2 or 3 years with Russell. This should be a great recruiting draw. I saw that we got another 4 commits over the last couple of days. We are getting a lot of 3 star guys. Can anyone give detail on these guys. Were they first choices. I am fine with 3 star guys (rather have 4 and 5) but TOB also looks for character which trumps a lot of 4 and 5 star guys but the N&O does not have much about them. We just got a couple today so I should cut them slack. Can anyone who has been in the war room give a summary of what we got and what we are still going for??

I’m darned proud of Russell cause I thought he was a “goner” in Columbia in August. I didn’t know if he’d ever get up, walk, breath, or ever play football again!

What a great 5 months for Wilson. Congratulations to a young man that by everything I’ve seen is a class act on and off the field. BTW remember his one interception was a Hail Mary at the end of a half.

Wilson should do what is best for him but I would hate to see him spend the next couple years in the minor leagues instead of being a legend at NC State.

Lets hope Wilson’s career is far better than the last NC State Rookie of the year.

Congrats Russell, can’t wait to see you play more next year.

^ They are two very different people. Anyone heard what TA is doing these days?

  18. wolfman 12/02/2008 at 9:35 PM #

I hear from some in the know that he is living and working in Albemarle. Nothing too glamorous either, from what I am told.

  19. Mike 12/02/2008 at 9:39 PM #

Alpha, is that a rhetorical Q about TA? Or do you really not know?

Last I heard, he got busted back home for some substances but I dont want to go too far in the gossip.

Congrats RW, thanks for being a true class act we can all be proud of. I have said many times I would much rather have a team with good character and citizenship go 8-3 every year than a bunch of thugs who go 11-0.

“I have said many times I would much rather have a team with good character and citizenship go 8-3 every year than a bunch of thugs who go 11-0.”

I would settle for either but I know I don’t like a bunch of thugs that go 3-8 or a team of good character that just does ok in basketball. I’m sure we can find a happy middle-ground.
