Let The Record Show…

After this, I promise I will let the UNC game go for the year, but I got this little gem in email a while ago and wanted to post it for posterity here:

Ah, the old aluminum-and-concrete gray versus the Red-and-White from State! Mighty satisfying!

  2. Girlfriend in a Coma 11/26/2008 at 3:01 PM #

No wonder the “Wolf,” “Pack” cheer sounded so loud.

  3. oldflyingfarmer 11/26/2008 at 3:19 PM #

No need to let it go. All of us true fans love it.

  4. graywolf 11/26/2008 at 3:41 PM #

^ Agreed, we don’t have to let this go until next year when we play again.

let it go??? more like, let it sink in further, and stew and mingle with the effervescence…….

    GO TO HELL CAROLINA!

btw, that NNN CCC State cheer has to be the dumbest thing ive ever heard. I heard it on TV during the tarhole game. most pathetic sounding thing ever.

I thoroughly enjoyed whipping UNC, but yes, let it go. Time to move on to Miami, lest we repeat the same mistake as last year and miss out on a bowl opportunity. Can we get a post about Miami?

  8. redfred2 11/26/2008 at 5:54 PM #

Well then, about Miami, they’re a good FB team, and we shouldn’t take them lightly.

At least, not until we step out onto the field and whip their asses up one side of Carter Finley Stadium, and then back down the other.

    GOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOLF PAAAAAAAAAACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. gopack968 11/26/2008 at 6:23 PM #

That is a beautiful football operations building and new stadium section they have…

OK, I’m fine now. I’ve throttled back and I am back down to reality.

TOB and I are around the same age, give or take. So all I really need to know now is, is his reality the same as mine, or is it this altered “state” that I have been living in for the past two decades?

No need to let it go. The Hole fans will have basketball season to make them feel better!

I stopped crowing about last years game Saturday at about 11:00 am.

Just watching the Butch Davis live show on TV. Reveling a bit, sure. And surprisingly few mentions of the State game at all. Until a question from the field about, ahem, turnovers. Shaun Draughn’s turnovers specifically. After which Butch relates a conversation he had after the game with his running back, during which Draughn shares with him that he had smeared Vaseline on himself prior to the game. No kidding. UNC is playing with greased running backs! Davis tried to play it off with a laugh, saying that it ‘could have conceivably’ contributed to the turnovers. I couldn’t believe he had actually shared this information. Priceless.

(I’ve recorded the video, but don’t have an easy means of dumping off to computer for YouTube action. If anyone can get this clip up, please share it.)

Went in to the office today and it was amazing how 98% of the younger Tarhole fans just totally avoided me. Glad I’ve got at least one old Tar Heel fan that has been around as long as I and can take it all in perspective.

To paraphrase another of my older friends though “he predicted that Carolina would lose because it was a much more important game for State than Carolina”! Now why would that be?? You just dropped in the bowl standings, out of the Top 25, and got your ass waxed, so you just decided to lose from the “get go”? Interesting, but typical!

  15. SuperStuff 11/26/2008 at 8:31 PM #

Finishing in the top 25 and trying to win an ACC championship must not be important to them. Wait I thought they wanted to compete on the national level. Guess what you have to win games on the state level to get to the national level bozo. I just hope those UNC-CH fans don’t get hurt jumping off that ship if DUKE beats them on saturday.

That’s what is great about our fans. We knew our program wasn’t hitting on all cylinders at the beginning of the year, but we show up anyway. Not just when we start to win a few games.

Those pine trees really are pretty.

  17. Greywolf 11/26/2008 at 10:33 PM #

About the photo, Alpha Wolf, in all fairness wasn’t there a Woman’s soccer team going to take place sometime this week? Wouldn’t want to be late for THAT. There’s got to be SOME Good EXCUSE for abandoning the football team.

Regarding running up the score, you gotta hand it to ’em, they took a knee in Maui against the fighting silverfish or whatever, didn’t they?

  18. highstick 11/26/2008 at 10:46 PM #

I forgot to make the same comment about the pines in my previous post! That’s hilarious!! Maybe it’s just the shade of the pines blocking out all the fans who aren’t there?

Yea, they really did avoid running up the score on Chaminade, didn’t they!

  19. wufpup76 11/27/2008 at 12:35 AM #

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all the pretty pine trees and people dressed in red in the above photo a very safe and warm Happy Thanksgiving!

(The same applies to all the fine folks who visit and/or contribute to this blog … even the Hole fans 😉 )

I had it book marked, and I think I read it right. Is it just my computer?

  21. redfred2 11/27/2008 at 10:24 AM #

Foz, I know you had to have heard it growing up, but there is no such thing as a supid question. 🙂

    Foz,
There is a pretty great shot of Carter-Finley in there and the RBC in its Hurricanes mode…

“the vaseline was supposed to make him warmer link anybody?”

My thought was that the vasaline would… well ask Ruth. She can explain it to ya.

Anyway, the vasaline must have been soothing after the ass-chewing he got from BMFD.
