no one does an intro piece like ESPN; there must be a school for that somewhere

  2. Ismael 08/22/2008 at 7:17 AM #

Forgot to add, the intro-spot has worn off now…AppState is gonna get beat….final score i’d say…56-0

  3. aPACKadeez 08/22/2008 at 7:31 AM #

I’m not so sure they’ll get beat that bad Ismael. LSU’s QB did get kicked off the team…

There’s a couple of hundred schools for that. 🙂

People are going to take a great deal of pride in whipping Appalachian State.

i just listened to an interview with Gary Hahn. He said he has been to all the scrimmages and that Evan’s and Wilson had equal arm strength…i saw Wilson at the red/white game and Evans has never thrown a ball with anywhere as much zip as Wilson…either Hahn is biased and flattering the Evans’ or someone has been on the juice

  6. StateFans 08/22/2008 at 8:32 AM #

Hahn biased? Someone from the University not telling you the truth? Never!

  7. Noah 08/22/2008 at 10:09 AM #

“Hello everyone. This is Gary Hahn. I’d like to introduce you to my broadcast partner, Johnny Evans.

Johnny, I was just down on the field….you’re boy couldn’t throw a football through a wet kleenex. What do you have to say about that?”

    Sweet …

I wonder how Herbstreit and espn will try to snow under Miles and LSU this year?

Espn does a lot of things well and covers a lot of college events, but then they also pull crap like the Miles fiasco last season and create shows like ‘Espn Hollywood’

Anyway, so glad football is here 🙂

Why are you guys hating on App. State? They are a home state team that we don’t play regularly, so there is no reason not to pull for them. I may be a little biased though, one of my brothers played football there in the early 90’s and another one of my brothers lived in Blowing Rock for about 15 years. They have a great program up there, I had the opportunity to play there and made the mistake of going somewhere else. Now I regret that seeing that I would have been apart of two national championship teams. They probably won’t get beat 56-0 as some guy predicted. App. St. will score on LSU because Amanti Edwards will make some big plays. Maybe some of you should watch other football teams instead of just NC St.. Go Pack and Go Mountaineers!

“No one is going to make things happen for you…you have to make things happen.”

I guess that concept would confuse some people that I can think of.

this is an NC State page…if you wanna get hot and bothered for App State do it on their forums, not here. I don’t care if they are from NC, they’re in the mountains, as far as i know everyone up there still thinks the Civil War is going on…

And nothing makes me as disgusted as App State fans who THINK their team has accomplished something. As much as NCSU sucked in 2006, we beat App State pretty handily…now look at their 2006 schedule

    Date Opponent* Result Record
    Sept. 2, 2006 at NC State L 23-10 0-1
    Sept. 9, 2006 James Madison W 21-10 1-1
    Sept. 16, 2006 MARS HILL W 41-0 2-1
    Sept. 23, 2006 at Gardner-Webb W 41-6 3-1
    Sept. 30, 2006 Elon W 45-21 4-1 (1-0)
    Oct. 7, 2006 at Chattanooga W 56-21 5-1 (2-0)
    Oct. 14, 2006 Wofford W 14-7 6-1 (3-0)
    Oct. 21, 2006 at Georgia So. W 27-20 7-1 (4-0)
    Oct. 28, 2006 Furman W 40-7 8-1 (5-0)
    Nov. 4, 2006 The Citadel W 42-13 9-1 (6-0)
    Nov. 11, 2006 at Western Carolina W 31-9 10-1 (7-0)
    Nov. 25, 2006 Coastal Carolina1 W 45-28 11-1
    Dec. 2, 2006 Montana St.2 W 38-17 12-1

This is pathetic, and someone wants me to get excited about that, or even mention “National Championship” in the same breath as them. I went to the University of Rochester, in Rochester, NY and was a freshman the year after they won the Div-III basketball national championship. My highschool team would have beat the hell out of them and our gym was bigger. Everyone was all excited and they were asking me why i wasn’t and i said: “i grew up in ACC country, 30 minutes from NCSU, UNC-CH, Duke, and Wake Forest, ive been to basketball games with 23K people, THAT is exciting.”

Can’t believe the Michigan game hasn’t been shown in perspective
    Box Score Final

    Appalachian St. (1-0) 7 21 3 3 34
    Michigan (0-1) 14 3 9 6 32

That 21pt 2nd quarter was all it was. And Michigan still almost won the game on a chip shot field goal that was blocked.

National Champions my butt. Get out of that dinky conference and play someone on a regular basis. I hate UNC but at least they play in a 1A conference.

Watch the video again and listen for the lead up to the line “Tell him we’re going to Disney World.” Funniest thing I’ve heard in a while. I like the App coaches. I can see why they’re winning ball games.

Was it the old NFL Films that started the tag line “on any given sunday”? In my experience if anything like what APP State accomplished last year was going to happen, it was going to happen at Michigan. During Lloyd Carr’s tenure Michigan frequently lost games like that. I told my Dad after watching the highlights that that should do it for Carr. And even though Michigan went on to have a good season and beat a good Florida team, he was out. No matter how good APP State is and they are good, that game was just too much embarrassment for Michigan fans. Could it happen again? Sure. The very next season against a team with skill sets very different from Michigan. Highly unlikely. Still, masterfully done motivational piece. Wonder how something like that affects Coach Fowler?

I’m an NC State fan first! I guess three national championships in a row really isn’t an accomplishment. Ismael go learn about football buddy.
