Open Thread Friday

Thought that we would open a thread for the day for your enjoyment. We’ve had a ton of activity and great entries over the last week…so, we implore you to surf the site and take a look at some of the great entries and fantastic conversations in some of the entries that exist).

Additionally, we will throw just a couple of neat things out in case you are interested:

* Raycom will broadcast four regular season ACC Basktetball games in High Definition this year and two of them will include the Wolfpack – whose home and away uniforms look particularly good in HD. You can see the schedule by clicking here.

* Speaking of the ACC Basketball schedule, this entry does some awesome work of analyzing what is to come for the Wolfpack as it relates to our RPI and chances to get into the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

* Speaking of the NCAA Basketball Tournament…I hope that Jay Bilas is wrong about is projection, but his comments are absolutely DEAD ON. You can click here to see his fantastic take on NC State and the entire ACC.

* Wondering how the ACC Basketball teams have been doing out of conference? Click here for a quick picture.

* Nice blog post tracking NC State and UNC-CH recruits.

* Paul Johnson has his staff together at Georgia Tech.

Clemson’s only loss? YOUR OLD MISS REBELS! Who remain undefeated. Andy Kennedy is our coach – wasn’t he an assistant at State at one point? I know there is some connection with the Pack.

Did any of y’all go and cheer for Nevada when the played at the dome of the dead? lol.

heck, OLE MISS – how said was that? I’d spell my own name wrong if it wasn’t tattooed on the back of my hand.

    Ev –

IIRC, kennedy was on state’s bball roster briefly under V before transferring … there was some bitterness after the transfer, i believe

(of course, i could be pulling this all from my a**, but i think that’s what went down)

Bilas usually gets props for being smart but he doesn’t know as much about guard play as our coach. I think that our PG’s have turned the corner and that MJ esp. is looking like his 4* HS rating after only 2 games. We can only get better at that spot as our guys get more confident. UNC-CH always looks unbeatable in early season and then slips. I like Roy as a person and think he is a better game coach than Dean but he doesn’t get today’s game and players like Sid.

As noted by RAWFS, Javi is getting another start at the PG position. I honestly thought that Marques would have clenched that spot by now judging by his performance in the last 2 games, but as many have said, Sid knows what he’s doing, and he has his reasons. Sid has also drove home that it’s not who you start, it’s who you finish with. I think Sid is on the same page as some of us, in that Javi just needs a little confidence in his game, and hopefully starting will help that some.

Bring on the Midget Bomb Squad ! Once again I’m stuck beside the band with the goal in my face at the game but, GO WOLFPACK.

Kennedy was a sharp shooting 6’8″ freshman guard, but stick thin. He struggled on D but I think that was his partly due to 180 lbs. Andy could shoot it though, no doubt about it. Transferred out because there were a glut of players in his position.

Kennedy married a Raleigh girl and ended up in Cincinnati working for Huggins I believe, and I think he took over during Huggy’s troubles. Disappointed he did not get the full time gig, but obviously doing well now.

Call me crazy, but I have a bad feeling about the Presbyterian game. The Hose are all about the 3 point shot. I can see 2 or 3 of there guys having career days from the 3 line, especially if State takes this one as lightly as they did WCU. I’m taking my 2 grand nephews to the game, ages 7 and 10. This will be the first college basketball game they have ever attended. One is a UNX fan the other is a DOOK fan. I have been trying to sway them back from the dark side. Please Wolfpack put on a show for the boys and show them what real basketball is about. A loss or even a poor showing against the Hose means 2 potential new Wolfpack fans probably are gone to the dark and light blue side forever.

At the risk of SFN losing out on its click-though pennies (I can only wait for an ad so long), here it the vintage t-shirt site. Just select the Pack from the pull down school menu.
