Terry Holland: “We Needed This”

Talk about getting a monkey off your back. This was it.

“I’m not sure I’m the one to address what it means to the program,” said first-year Pirate head coach Mack McCarthy. “[But] it was a lot of fun and an unbelievable atmosphere.”

We needed this,” added ECU athletic director Terry Holland, who got State to come to Greenville for the first time.

    They did need this win.

Too bad NC State is always the team that gives them those wins. We don’t need to complain about having to play them until we can beat them 100% of the time.

we should send out a PSA to all struggling teams and ADs… if you need a big win, talk to Lee Fowler.

I’m pissed I have a whole week to stew about this. Where is my basketball team? Let me check a milk carton, call John Walsh, or maybe go to the Pound.

    It is definately MIA.

The team mailed it in last night. Ball handling in the final 5 minutes was atrocious. Not the mark of a team that was predicted to be #2 in the ACC or ranked. The team is playing like a “rank” team at his point and until they get their heads in the game – it will be a long season.

I mean #3 pre season for ACC not 2

we got outcoached, as much as that pains me to say, it is reality.

Problem is, now if we never go back, like we shouldn’t, ECU will point to this loss and say “State is too chicken to take another shot at us.” The only way we can ever wipe this stain away is to go down again and this time beat the crap out of them in their own house. After that, I say treat, them like they don’t exist.

Reputations and pre-season polls don’t win games. So far, our only consistency has been in a lack of ability to rebound. I hope the team will use the Christmas break to work on their deficiencies.

Glad we could be of service, Mr. Holland. Anything else you need from us? Just say the word and it’s yours.

I hope the RBC Center is empty. To send a message to the powers that be that this is unacceptable. No successful coach has taken more than 5 years to win something big, whether a division title or a Final Four appearance. Whether it’s Dean Smith, Everret Case or Billy Donovan, if a basketball program isn’t going to turn around within 5 years, it’s not going to turn around.

We were a good team once, but that was a long time ago. We suck. Lowe should be given a much shorter leash than Sendek.

I’d rather run through coaches than be stuck in mediocrity. Someone has to come along, who can resurrect this program.

If not Lowe, keep looking till we find the one.

    Good Afternoon:

    To all NC State fans:

Thank you for your most generous Christmas gift.
    It was very much appreciated.

If you would like to visit us again in the land of Bar-B-Q, please come back any time. We would love to have you for dinner.

Seriously, good game, and I hope that the rivalry between the two schools continue, with games on a rotating basis. Fair is fair, after all.

    Merry Christmas, and GOOOOO Pirates.
