Lee Fowler’s Idea of Improvement

I won’t make this long because it hurts my head too much to type.

When Lee Fowler wanted to earn political favor with the more respected and poweful Terry Holland Fowler foolishly scheduled a road game for the NC State Basketball program in Greenville – where:

(1) NO other NC State basketball team had ever stooped to play,
(2) very few ACC programs and no other programs from North Carolina had ever stooped to play, and
(3) all of the NC State fans who pay for lifetime rights couldn’t watch the Wolfpack for the fifth consecutive game over a three week+ period.

When softly asked about the decision in the off-season, Fowler boldly boasted that he was being strategic as road games/wins will help NC State’s RPI.

Just for the record, NC State entered Saturday’s game against ECU rated #36 in the RPI with the #19th ranked strentgh of schedule in the country. After the trip to ECU that “Coach Fowler” so strategically scheduled – NC State is #75 in the RPI with the #52nd ranked strength of schedule in the country.

With this kind of Einstein-esque strategy from someone who self-proclaims that they ‘know basketball’…(finish your own sentence here)…

For the record, the following is NC State’s all-sports rankings in the annual Director’s Cup is listed below. Thank GOD that we have invested so much money into new facilities, eh? Just look at the ‘improvement’ that the increased expenditures have brought.

I see what you mean, and have already accepted that NOW is a peculiar time. The general assumption is that Sid and TO’B were great hires. However its more of the raw ineptitude he has previously portrayed that has many so agitated. TO’B fell into his lap and he was backed into the Sid hire. Why was the game ever scheduled at ECU? Obviously the loss itself was not his fault, but we should have never even been in that position.

Just this past month at a meeting with student government he again claimed that we cannot expect to compete with Duke and UNC-CH on a regular basis. THAT is something that I cannot and WILL never be able to find acceptable in someone who is supposed to direct our athletics department.

Since when did we become UNC? We should never play at ECU (or by extension any other in state non-ACC school) at their place? UNC is where the stuck-up, I’m too good for you snobs go and root for. I’ve always thought that NC State was were the I’ll take on anyone anywhere fans resided. We have had bad losses before and we rebounded. I vote we have a rotating home and away with Charlotte, ECU, Davidson, Western, Asheville, Wilmington and Greensboro. I vote we play four home and two away every year, (skipping one each year) and that one of the first three is our Heritage game in Renoylds. We can use them instead of the SC States, Delaware, New Hampshire’s of the world that we schedule.

I am also so tired of those complaining about our AD. I don’t care who our AD is, and why are we? Do we like our coaches? If so, then why not shut up? If not, attack that issue.

It’s amazing how fan bases continually find more and more to complain about.

That is why “Fan” is short for Fanatic.

    NCSU84-

I get that. It’s just that I have enough drama in real life. I’d rather be “fanatic” in a positive way about my teams.

Duke was nothing special when Coach K took over. In fact, State was better than them, historically, presently, and otherwise.

Fast forward to today, and Duke is one of the greatest programs of all time with 3 NCAA Titles and a host of FF’s and ACC Titles since K took over.

Hmmm. One Coach K key to getting early momentum and setting up for a successful season? Coach K ALMOST NEVER plays a non-conference opponent away on their home floor, much less at a place like ECU. K almost always schedules the big non-conf foes at some big city or neutral site (ex. Big 10 Challenge) and plays teams like Davidson only at a non-home someplace close like Belk Arena or on HIS home floor at Cameron.

Gee, I don’t know. Maybe if State ever wants to be halfway as successful as Duke became and remains, perhaps they should at least take a little advice from Coach K and stop emulating the “wisdom” of the likes of Lee Fowler and Herb Sendek or the wishes of fans who long for mediocrity or simply getting to the NCAA’s and nothing more…
